Car suddenly began overheating without warning. Very scary situation,evidently this is common with Pt Cruisers. Why have there been no recalls.

While it is primarily cosmetic, this is not something that should be breaking in a 7 year old (8 model years) car. I do have some concerns about further failures in the dash while driving and a piece potentially getting lodged by the gas or brake pedal, the shifter, or steering wheel.
