Windshield Wiper/washer problems of the 2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. While driving approximately 35 mph in rainy weather conditions, the front windshield wipers stopped operating in the upright position. The contact changed the wiper fuse per the owner's manual; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic for diagnostic testing due to the rainy weather conditions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

The plastic used for the windshield washer nozzles on the Chrysler Pt Cruiser gt model is not correct for the application, in that the extra heat under the hood from the turbo charger causes the plastic to become weak and crumble, which results in windshield washer fluid leaking down on top of an electrical panel located on the firewall of the drivers side of the vehicle, which ultimately results in a safety hazard.
