1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact stated that the oil light illuminated and when she checked the oil level there was no oil in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the oil was pouring out of the crank shaft and that the engine was shaking and spinning, as a result the front seal was destroyed. The dealer also stated that the long engine block had to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 47,000.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2010

2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser about 63,300 miles. Consumes about 4 quarts about every 2500 miles. I have noticed this since I purchased the vehicle in 2008. It seems to be increasing with mileage. I have found that there is really no point in changing the oil because I replace all of it before the 3000 so I am just replacing the filter.

3 Engine problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

My 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser is consuming two quarts of oil a day. It started using this amount of oil once the car reached a mileage of 40,000. The Pt Cruiser is currently unable to travel on the interstate. I am only able to drive through the city; where it will barely get up to twenty mph. The current mileage as of 8/28/10 is 52,736 and I received the car with 36,000 miles earlier this year.

4 Engine problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact stated that there was too much end ply on the crankshaft of her engine. As a result, the seal on the engine is separating and causes oil to spill, which could lead to a fire. The dealer was aware of the issue, but the vehicle was 20,000 miles out of warranty; therefore, they refused to repair the issue. The failure began on may 9, 2009 and the engine blew out a few days later. The failure mileage was 56,000.

5 Engine problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

Upon acceleration between 0 and 30 mph there is a feel of the engine missing or the transmission/torque converter chattering. Have had the vehicle to the dealer two times and they advise there is nothing abnormal occurring in the vehicle that it is a characteristic problem in the vehicle.
