I accelerated to get up to highway speed and the gas pedal stuck going 65mph. I put both feet on the brake at full pressure and the car kept accelerating. I put into neutral and braked, then pull the e-brake and pulled over to the shoulder of the highway. Very dangerous, scary malfunction - the mechanic says the accelerator throttle and cable are broken. A search of the internet shows other people have had this happen in different years and models of Pt Cruisers.
Blinker works at times and not at others. Battery light came on while drivumg, got home now it won't start, battery has full charge but the starter is not cranking.
I am frequently experiencing the following problem which includes the check engine light coming on, the car not wanted to accelerate, feeling like the car is going to stall while driving down the road. One time it did stall in traffic however, it started right back up. The check engine light does go out. I have taken it to several car places and no one has been able to diagnose the problem. This is a serious problem as I am afraid to drive the car. It has happened at varying speeds and weather conditions, from 20 - 60 miles per hour, local road to highways, warm days, cool days and everything in between. It is hard to predict when this will happen but is an issue that should be addressed before something serious happens and people are injured.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. During routine maintenance, the mechanic discovered an oil leak. The dealer stated that the crank shaft and front seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,232.
A few weeks ago my check oil gas light came on, and so my husband checked my oil(my car only has 22000 miles on it) and when he checked it there wasn't any oil in the car, it was very low. It barley read on the dip stick. After changing my oil, my check oil came on again after 500 miles. Again there wasn't much oil. I took it into the dealership, they said they would mark my oil pan and plug and look at my car every 1000 miles to document on how much oil I am using. They didn't do anything else. I haven't really gotten anywhere with this oil situation. I drive about 26 miles one way to work on major interstate, and I am afraid to get stranded. . .
