Tire Valve Problems of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The vehicle has goodyear eagle tires, size p/205/55/r16 with schrader valve stems, model tr413(na). While checking the air in the tires ,the valve stem on the front driver's side tire failed halfway in the threaded area, which caused the tire to blow. Within the valve stem, the contact noticed green corrosion on each tire where the stem was located. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and the mechanic stated that the valve stem failed and caused the tire to blow. The valve stem has been replaced. The contact called the manufacturer and they stated that there were no recalls on the tire stem; therefore, he would not be reimbursed for the repairs. The failure and current mileages were 14,272.

2001 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. Alloy wheels corrosion around valve stem hole, results in loss of tire pressure. On an extended trip this may go unnotice and lead to tire failure. 3 of 4 wheels on the car exhibit this problem. Dealer aknowledges the problem. Other owners have noted this problem in internet forums. Chrysler "field rep" offered to pay half of retail cost for new wheels, ie. I pay for wheels at no cost or possible profit by Chrysler depending on markup. Wheels are available for examination.

Consumer states: has problems with the rims that are chrome plated and deteriorating. Also, the valve stems are deteriorating. Goodyear claims gm is having an issue with chrome plated rims. It is causing the valve stems just to malfunction. Dealer has done one rim replacement under warranty, said it was a courtesy . Stems were leaking from corrosion of rim after rim replacement. Consumer called complaining about having a problem with the tires. Also stated that the first week that she bought the vehicle she had to take it back for service because her left front tire was low and at the dealer they plug the tire and now she is having the same problem again. Dealer was contacted and dealer and they add a plug into it and consumer has not taking the vehicle again. Vehicle carriers original equipment. Please add manufacture name, model and tire size. Ts.
