Fuel Pump problems of the 1999 Chrysler Sebring

Five problems related to fuel pump have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2012

1999 Chrysler Sebring. Car was caught on fire due to power steering leak. The consumer also had a fuel pump issue. The repair shop stated the connections had burned at the fuel pump.

2 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2011

Engine cuts out while driving at any speed. Sometimes immediately resumes, sometimes car sits for up to 45 minutes to presumably cool off. Started to happen once per week, and within a few weeks was once per day. Presents a problem while driving at high speed on the highway or making local road maneuvers as power steering and power brakes loose power. Mechanic examined and concluded the fuel pump and or fuel pump wiring was faulty.

Fuel pump leak.

4 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2006

: the contact stated at highway speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning, but restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, who determined the wires to the fuel pump became hot and shut down the pump. The fuel pump and filter was replaced. Updated 2/16/2007 - the dealer reported that the fuel pump wiring was faulty.

5 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2005

The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and almost caused a crash. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to locate the cause of the failure. He believed that there may have been an issue with the fuel system. He removed the fuel tank from the vehicle and found burnt wires, which were controlling the fuel pump. The contact replaced the fuel pump wires and the fuel pump itself, but currently the vehicle will not start. He stated that the dealer overcharges him during every visit and they cannot diagnose the failure. The contact believes that it is a manufacturer defect that should be recalled. The failure mileage was 81,000 and current mileage was 110,000.
