Four problems related to seat belt have been reported for the 2001 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The seat belt restraint module on the passenger side of the vehicle will not deploy. A diagnostic was run and the problem was discovered, the red light on the dash continues to be displayed when the car is running. The Chrysler Dodge & Jeep place said there was a six month back order on the defective part. This tells that they have a problem there and are not recalling it, until you take action.
Air bag warning light came on and remained on. Dealer diagnosed problem as failure of right front seat belt pretensioner. Seat belt pretensioner was replaced to fix the problem.
2001 Sebring. Driver seat belt broke last Dec, 2002. Had it replaced 1/3/2003. Was still under warranty. 12/9/2003, driver side seat belt broken for 2nd time. Car not under warranty (3 yrs 30,000 mile warranty)dealer wants me to pay for it. Have been buying new cars for over 30 years, never had a problem with a seatbelt before. Have been buying new Chrysler vehicles, every 3-4 years from same dealer, never had seat belt problem. I feel there is a defect in the driver side seat belt. My husband and I are the only 2 to drive this car.
