Transmission Failure problems of the 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Four problems related to transmission failure have been reported for the 2001 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2013

The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler Sebring coupe. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph up an incline the transmission failed to respond. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and then towed to his residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. The VIN was unavailable.

2 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2005

: the contact stated while driving on the highway at 35 mph the transmission failed. The independent repair shop determined there was a defective cushion spring. The stock replacement part provided by the manufacturer was at least five times heavier than the original part. The gauge of the original cushion spring was much less than the stock replacement part. As the cushion spring began to disintegrate the parts lodged in the pump gears, resulting in having to rebuild the transmission.

3 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2004

While driving 20 mph transmission failed.

4 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2003

Transmission failure on 2001 Chrysler Sebring 6 cyl-2. 7 at 56k. I month prior dealership performed service to transmission and reported no problems. One month to date later trans needed replacement.
