Three problems related to car accelerates on its own have been reported for the 2002 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While reversing out at 2 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 4000 rpms. The contact engaged the brakes but the vehicle continued to rev. She then engaged the parking brake, shifted into park and shut off the vehicle. The failure occurred six times in one month. The contact stated that on one occasion, the vehicle accelerated and when she attempted to brake, her forehead hit the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the engine was cleaned along with other repairs (the contact was unsure of what the other repairs were). The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000 and the current mileage was 81,049.
The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Sebring. While pulling into the driveway the contact noticed that the vehicle had suddenly accelerated without warning causing the vehicle to crash into the side of the contacts home. No one was injured and a police report was filed for the incident. There were no prior warnings and the vehicle has not been diagnosed. The current and failure mileages were 40000.
