Seatbelt drivers side doesn't retract. Like 2007 the car randomly stalls while driving. In motion. Both are huge safety issues.
Horn going off while driving or parked.
At 121,000 miles the horn began to blow by itself at very random times, I had to remove the relay to stop it, not safe.
The horn starts honking for no reason as I am driving down the road, it also honks when I unlock the door using the remote without anyone being in the car.
The horn goes off without warning. The first time is happened was a couple of months ago while driving down a city street at 6:10am (taking my child to school). The horn went off a various times (while driving down major city streets) for a few days. On Saturday 1/2/16 I started (in my driveway) the car and the horn went off. I pushed the steering wheel the horn stayed on, next I pushed the panic button, it stayed on until I pushed the panic button a second time about 2 minutes later. Then on the same day while driving on a (main city street) the horn went off four times within five minutes. However, each time it the horn turned off when I pushed the steering wheel. This morning 1/4/16 the horn went off several times back to back for about a minute, only turning off when I pushed the steering wheel. Did a google search and found 57 complaints (complaint. Com) about the same horn problem. Suggested I add my voice to what is clearly a problem.
My horn goes off for no apparent reason. While driving down the road it goes off and to get it to stop I had to hold my hand lightly over the air bag and horn buttons on the steering wheel.
The horn starts blowing randomly while driving and will not shut off without hitting on steering col. . . Reviewed problem online and noticed this was a issue with this car. Had to pull the fuse to stop the horn from blowing on several occasions. . Problem has happened while sitting stationary with keys not in ignition, while driving and while parked.
I am joining the many other owners who's horns go off, with out warning car off or car on. At the same time the horn now seems to have stopped working entirely leaving me no way to warn other drivers that do not see me. I can confirm the costive a repair is on the $1100 range and my local Chrysler reports they do this repair 4 times per week, nationwide. This repair is out of my budget and I think Chrysler needs to recall and repair these vehicles. The horn has gone off in stationary, motion, on a city street and highway and turning. Even with the engine shut off in the wee hours of the morning. Below you ask when did this happen? at least 20 times. The horn switch indeed includes the air bags. No way to test them but I fear they are not working as this switch is bad. I hope I don't find out the hard way.
Horn goes off all by it's self when car is off any time of day or night only way I could get it to stop was to pull horn fuse witch may disable airbag . Possible cause is a clock spring in witch dealer claims to have never heard of before but when typed on line about it the problem it finishes your sentence. Sounds pretty common to me. This problem could cause the airbag to fail and cause injury to the driver or death.
I am writing to the national highway traffic safety administration to file a complaint against the fiat-Chrysler company. Since the beginning of February 2015, my horn has been going off when my is parked at night time, and therefore many complaints have been reported by my neighbors, when my horn automatically goes on during the hours of the night, it is very upsetting having to explain my situation to the neighbors. A technician at one of the fiat-Chrysler repair centers diagnosed the problem and stated that the problem was the due to a bad switch that controls the driver¿s side airbag and horn, and that would cost over $1,000 to repair. The dealership stated that I would have to repair it because it wasn¿t recall issue. Because of the fact that I am on permanent disability and on a very low income, I am unable to afford to repair it. After realizing that there is no light in sight, I began to research as to how many other consumers/or Chrysler Sebring owners are experiencing the same problem as I am presently experiencing. . Car pulled out in front and hit the horn, which did not work, and now comes on only intermittently, or even on its own. This seems to be a common problem with the Sebrings and from blogs seems to be due to a faulty switch inside the airbag cover on the steering wheel. This is a terrible safety hazard and should have been recalled.
My horn sounds continously in the middle of the night with no cause or prompting, causing unnecessary angst for me and discomfort for my neighbors.
This car should have had a recall for the bad suspension and for the horn. First of all I bought this car in early February 2007 from the dealer it was a certified used 2006 Chrysler Sebring touring. From the start the horn would blow at any given time. Secondly I have replaced every suspension part from ball joints, lower &upper control arms, inner &outer tie rods and on and on. I have friends that have the same model car and they have the same problems. That's not including the wheel bearing, water flange, oil pressure sensor.
I was driving and the horn went off and I could not get it to stop finally after about 2 minumtes and constant hitting the horn button on the steering wheel it did. A few moments later id did the same thing. The next day just getting in the car caused the horn tom go off. I talked to a Chrysler dealership and while they agreed there is a problem it is not had enough complaints for Chrysler to admit there is a design/swith problem. The repair cost is to expensive and the simple solution could and probably is a dangerous one and that is to disconnect the horn. I hope Chrysler acts on something that is a well known problem before some is seriously hurt. I bought my car and take care of it like most do but a manufacturing problem is something that the manufacturer should fix I hope Chrysler agrees.
Horn goes off by itself. When I unlocked door with remote horn started to blow and would stop when steering wheel was pressed and then start up again for no reason. This is the second time first time was when I bought the car used fuse had been pulled. Airbag section with horn was replaced with used part. This worked well for 1 1/2 years now it is happening again.
I was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse and went and bought a new fuse. That did not fix the problem. It went off when hitting unlock button on remote. Then took it to my mechanic and he said that the horn pad assembly which was a dealer only part had to be replaced. So right now I have just left the fuse out, because it is an expensive fix. This is a defect in the part and Chrysler should fix this issue. They say it will cost $1,000 for parts and labor. This is not the fault of what I did it is the fault of what they manufactured.
Horn started blowing on its own. Finally shut off after 4 minutes. Horn went off 5 times on March 14, 2014. Horn will turn on whether car is on or not.
Horn or alarm randomly goes off. Impossible to stop, it does so eventually on its own. This is on entry to the car, whether by key, key fob, or even opening trunk. . And when driving at speed randomly. Is this not a serious safety issue? did a dealer check and they could not find anything. No recalls, no problems from Chrysler. . . Hard to believe since I see many complaints online that point to a horn pad assembly problem that costs $1000 to fix. This is a low mileage low used car, I am the second owner, the first being my father. Not a lot of horn blowing. Took in again to dealer, called Chrysler, no info from either. Returned to the dealer with mechanic and replicated the problem, and he finally agreed it might be the horn assembly, and removed the horn fuse. Apparently there is a foil that gets worn through causing a short activating the horn, and the only way to fix is a reassembly. This is not a fix, this is a faulty manufacturing issue (materials skimping to cut corners). This is not a way to be a long time manufacturer and maintain the quality expected of american cars. Its awful and unsafe. They also led the mechanic around in circles testing computers and all sorts of things when 5 min on the internet directed me to the problem and after a quick test proved true. Such a waste of time.
Horn randomly goes off (like the alarm). At first it was at unlock, now it is also when driving at speed. Totally random. Today it went off in the driveway, at a parking lot, and then again when I was driving home. Took to a dealership last week, they could not locate a fault. 5 min on google and I saw many complaints on a foil that gets worn over time causing contact shorts in the horn assembly or pad. . . Apparently a $1100 fix. This is a safety issue, and it is a faulty part, it should most certainly be a recall. I have only driven this car 31000 miles.
The horn started blowing on its own while I was driving on a local interstate. It caused the car next to me to swerve thinking I was blowing at them. I also got several angry looks. Thankfully the horn eventually (5 minutes) stopped & I did not encounter bumper to bumper traffic. Since the first incident it has happened several more times sometimes when driving and sometimes when parked. I also had a problem when a car pulled out in front of me and the horn would not blow when pushed but did start blowing a few seconds later and would not stop. This a very dangerous situation when the horn is needed & does not blow & is also a problem when it blows when it is not supposed to. I can imagine how I would feel if while sitting in stopped traffic the car behind me would lay on their horn for several minutes for no apparent reason. I have been told if you remove the air bag relay or unplug the horn wire the horn will stop blowing. This of course would leave you without a horn, which is not a good situation. I have also been told but have not confirmed that by unplugging the horn relay, it makes the drivers airbag inoperative (definitely a safety issue). The problem appears to be in the horn switch located on top of the air bag. I have been told by a Chrysler dealer that the entire air bag needs to be replaced. If the horn does not blow when pushed or blows when it is not pushed it is a real safety concern not to mention if you were in a serious crash & the horn relay was removed causing the air bag not to deploy.
I was driving down the road and the horn started blowing by itself! this is a huge safety issue!!!!! I almost had an accident because of this happening. I am handicapped and have my grandchildren in my car. This is such a distraction to my neighbors and to other drivers on the road. Other drivers are distracted by the noise which is a safety hazard! I have had the car for 6 yrs and have never recieved any information about this problem. But in doing some research there are many other cars like mine that have the same problem. This is a grave situation with this happening. Why isn't Chrysler doing anything to fix this problem in their cars? would Chryslers upper echelon put their families in these cars and send them off to drive on the highways with the horn randomly honking and not being able to stop it while driving a vehicle? funny how people just can't put themselves in other peoples places because of their pompasness and narcissism. This needs to be addressed yesterday!!! I can promise Chrysler, if something happenes, to anyone, because of this safety issue, especially in my family, because they we neglegant in fixing the horn problem, I will see them in court with a good lawyer!!!!!!!! that you can bet on!.
Well it first happened at night my wife thought someone was breaking into the car I never caught what was going on until the fourth time I finally herd it it was my horn going off for 60 seconds or more and I could not get it stop it would go off at night around 12 or 2 or 3,4 in morning then it eventually it got worse started going off at all times then the horn was not usable but would still go off when it chose to. Then it started to go off when I was driving. I stopped driving the car and have since unhooked the battery. There are many complaints online of people with same issue recently I hooked the battery up to see if maybe it was ok wrong it blared right away and so I unhooked the battery again.
I used the horn and it didn't shut off when I removed my hand from the steering wheel. I had to remove the fuse to get it to turn off. I replaced the fuse but the horn would still go off by itself at random times. A dealer told me the clock spring in the steering wheel was faulty and needed to be replaced. Apparently, this is a common problem with this vehicle, and it is very unsafe since it affects the airbags as well as the horn.
I applied pressure to the steering wheel to activate the horn and the horn would not stop blaring after I removed my hand. The only way to get it to stop was to lean heavily on the steering wheel where the horn is. I was in heavy traffic with no place to pull over, so it was a very dangerous situation. Ultimately, I had to remove the fuse that controls the horn and incidentally the air bags, rendering both the horn and air bags inoperable.
Horn keeps going off by it self. I have checked other web sites and this is a well known issue with the Sebring why isn't this on recall? I have been cut off on several occasions where a horn was needed I was ran off the road several times do to the other driver not looking in blind spots where as if I had a horn I could have used it instead of being ran off the road.
Horn went off would not stop on chrylser 2006 Sebring. Fuse was pulled to stop horn disabled horn & airbag according to 3/4's of others reports. Please execute manufacturer recall.
