My husband and I are experiencing problems recently with the car stahling out and or getting stuck in low gear while driving on the hwy, it was terrifying! we are currently not at home and have a 10 hour drive back home while driving this extremely unstable car and am honestly scared to death we are going to get in an accident! this is the 3rd battery swap we've done in 3 months but only have last 2 receipts. We have done research and this car has had electrical recall for this problem however apparently our VIN dont match up to the recall. I dont understand it, this is extremely horrible business from Chrysler and as soon as we can get home hopefully safely. . We wont buy another. Please help fast!.
The convertible roof would open with pausing. The trunk was stuck open not closing but you could hear motor. Now trunk closed and stay closed with no motor sound. Convertible top isn't opening but when car drives at 30mph the roof flies open. The dashboard light would go off and on while driving, causing unable to see mph or anything. I can not drive due to fear of being in a accident or causing one since the car is malfunctioning and the roof will fall off on routine driving on highway with speed limits the car can't exceed.
I was riding on the highway with my daughter in passenger seat when suddenly my engine light started blinking and the rpm's shot up to about 7,000 and continued if accelerator was press. I immediately pulled over. Call aaa to have car towed to my destination. The car was now in what is called limp mode and has been for 2 months now.
When ur driving down the road the engine just shuts down like u turned off the key. It isn't over heating and no check engine light so I cannot figure out why it keeps doing this and it has a new battery . I just bought the car.
My vehicle has been having issues with the batter for the past year and I have done everything to stop the issue but something is constanly making my vehicle go dead. The issue with the seat is that the seat will not go down and I've tried to get that fix but t I was told that its a part I need to purchase.
Takata recall my dash lights don't work and I can't see how fast I'm driving down the road at night time.
Periodic loss of throttle control. Throttle light will come on usually while idling at a stop, car starts shaking, will not accelerate. Almost got into a wreck. I have two kids with me in the car. I thought it was safe because throttle body was replaced and didnt have problems for a couple weeks since then! mechanics cant even figure out the problem.
I was told it's electrical problem and the car doesn't go over 20 miles and it says that it's the intake also says it's the muffler and sensors and other things which I have had check and it neither. And sometimes it pushes back or is stalls and just turns off in the middle of the intersection.
The shifter is not working.
Bought battery and somethg is still draining and it keeps hsppening.
About 2 years ago my tpms sensor on my driver side stop working, not even a month later my car started stalling. I would be at a light, stop sign, or pulling out into traffic and it would just stall. So I had the alternator replaced at not even 70,000 miles which solved the stalling issue. Then about a year and a half ago I noticed when I was on the interstate driving to tampa from orlando and I put the cruise control on and my car started slowing down on i4 and almost got me hit by a semi truck but he was thankfully able to swerve into the lane beside me. I called Chrysler and told them the issue and they said well there is a recall on the tpms but your VIN number doesn't match and turned me away. Then a few weeks later I started having problems with my passenger side door not locking and the window going up before the door was shut, and would have to mess with it to get the door to actually shut. Then about 8 months ago my rpms where jumping erectly and my dad who is a mechanic cleaned all the carbon out in my motor and I was still having the same problem. Then today my car shift would not shift out of park and my dads friend noticed the cable in the motor was popped out and popped it back in. So I drive to class and when I get on campus and go to park my car my var gets stuck in reverse and I had to sit in there for over an hour with my foot on the break before someone was able to help me. This car needs a serious investigation and Chrysler refuses to help me when I have less than 95,000 miles on the car and my issues match there recall perfectly. These issues could lead me or someone else to get killed or seriously hurt, but I guess they wont due anything until enough people get killed or injured to realize theres a major problem with this vehicle.
On may 20, 2017 driving on interstate 70-80 mph; red lightning bolt dash warning light came on. My car seemed to pull back and hesitate. It was driving as if it may cut off. I drove into right lane and dropped speed to about 55 mph. I did not stop because it was night and I am a senior woman driving alone on a route I'd never driven. The car would pulsate and run unsteady when idling a stops. I made it home, turned car back on and light went off. I went online and looked up the red light icon and it said "etc electronic throttle control. This is a serious problem. Now I'm afraid to drive the car; especially on the highways and interstates. On previous occasion on a highway doing 60 mph or so; car accelerated and would not slow up until it decided to. I had no control about 30- 40 seconds. Thank god I did not panic and did not crash. I reported to mechanic at dealership where I purchased car. They said they have no way of knowing what happened unless I happened again. Also, in March I had my car towed to the shop because it would not start. They had to correct wiring problem. Another problem, their is a ticking sound. Mechanic says its some kind of fan that cools the air coming into the car. It makes that ticking sound even if my car is parked and engine turned off.
It's stops while driving, but the radio still is playing during the many times this had happened . On both city street and turning corners.
The engine light came on I took it to the local repair shop to be checked they could not find anything and reset the light. A few days later the light came back on and the car stalled in the middle of the hiway. I was able to get it back to the repair shop where they are working to find the issue at this time. They have changed the spark plugs and a sensor because that's what the reader said to do but the car is still dying and has reduced speed.
Car keeps losing power while driving and the etc warning light keeps coming on every other day, take it to get a diagnostic code reading and nothing comes up.
Engine stall while driving at high speed on express way. Engine will not crank starter will not turn engine. Happen three times in six month period. Safety issues.
All warning lights are on. The head lights are going off. Happens in motion and stationary.
My car's electronic throttle control light comes on when I am in motion. The etc turns off when the car is cut off and restarted. I feel unsafe driving the expressway being that I drive for a living.
My car want shift out . . . The rpm going up and not shifting. . It reading like the car in manual shift but the car is in drive. . .
I bought the car 1/02/2016 2 weeks later I am in motion I put my foot on the brake at a red light it takes off on its own, cuts off when I make a stop.
As I was driving 70 mph on the highway, the throttle control warning light came and the car begin to loss power and hesitate. I pulled off the road and it began to stall and jump. The car was losing power and I could not go past 45 mph. Another problem I am having is the instrument panel light went off and I cannot see the gas gauge, speedometer, etc. The vehicle is currently sitting in the parking lot until I can get it towed to be checked and/or fixed. It currently runs, but I am afraid to drive it.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled twice in the last six months. The check engine warning light and all the other warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not able to restart without charging the battery overnight; however the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The vehicle was diagnosed that the six amp draw/ computer electric failure needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,288.
Problem: 2008 Chrysler Sebring engine, transmission & electrical problems. I began financing in Nov 2013 from Toyota of riverside, 1yr and 3 months later on Feb 17, 2015 while I was exiting the freeway, my engine light came on, my car completely shutdown, I had no brakes, I was fearful and held onto the steering wheel coasted near an arco station. I was thankful I did not hit anyone or have an accident. I called aaa who towed me to Toyota of riverside. Joe agassi the service manager told me I needed to replace the timing belt and the engine for $1500. It took about 3 weeks for the engine to be repaired, my car was returned on March 12, 2015. However, I noticed when I received my car back the cruise control lever near the steering wheel was hanging loosely and was not attached. Weeks, later the electronic speed control light and the engine light came on along with problems shifting. I sent pictures of my engine light being on from my phone to joe agassi and leo varela and went to see joe agassi who told me the transmission need repair and it would cost $3000 to $4000. " I went to moss brothers riverside, oscar talamantes on 09/17/15 did a diagnostic. He told me there is an auto transmission shift lever recall and a spring hook retainer he can replace for free. He also replaced a stop lamp switch binds and and reprogrammed the pcm for $290. I picked up my car on 9/22/15 it continued to stall, returned it to moss brothers oscar said it may be a transmission problem before we can begin we will need $1690 up to $4480 to repair it. Ihad my car towed to manuel auto center, he replaced my left tie rods for $275 in the past. He completed a diagnostic, replaced solenoid package for $800. However, my driver side window would not roll down, electrical problems and negligence at his shop. He was willing to pay $275 to repair. My car is unsafe. Thank you ms melinda ancrum.
While driving to work, my Chrysler seabrings windshield wipers started moving on their own. At first it was maybe once . After a couple of days they stopped working completely. Not having working windshield wipers in florida is dangerous because it pretty much rains every day. I took my car to a local Chrysler dealership and now I am being charged $1100 a switch and a tipm. I had no idea what a tipm was so I looked it up on the internet. Seems Chrysler has a defective part on almost all of their vehicles which control all electrical devices. This situation is so unfair. These tipm parts should be replaced free of charge.
Most recently the electronic throttle control light came on, the owners manual indicates that the vehicle may loose control of speed and cause an accident. Further research indicated that this was a common problem and that people have lost control of there vehicles and or been in accidents as they were unable to slow down or stop do to this issue. Many of the complainants on line were individuals with young children as I am and have serious concerns for injury or death. Local dealers had issues resolving the problem. My second issue which is also a common issue for Chrysler owners is that the instrument cluster lights go out and cease to work and you will not be able to see any of your instruments at night such as your speed, tachometer, gas gauge, engine temperature ect. This is a big safety concern as you can not see your speed at night or early in the morning when kids are going to school and reduced speeds are in affect, as well as being able to know if your running out of gas or car is overheating causing further damage. I did although find a recall for different models with gas gauge issues as a safety concern for running out of gas. This instrument cluster issue has to be far worse than the gas gauge recall as it causes the same concerns plus several more in just one problem. When I called the recall line they said that its not on the recall list but was able to confirm the gas gauge issue I attached below. Fuel gauge may overstate fuel level models : Chrysler Sebring, Dodge avenger engine, March 16, 2009 the began March, 2009. The Chrysler recall number is j02. I will be forwarding this complaint and posting to the executives of Chrysler as well as my local media, and insurance company for validity of my complaint. I hope to be contacted for this issue to be resolved.
I started the car and got a couple miles up the road and this lightning bolt came on so I looked it up and it said it was the electronic throttle control I have noticed the car accelerates and decelerates at different times and it seems to lose power while I'm driving is there a recall on this issue I just looked at all the complaints about this problem and it seems to me that there are way too many complaints about the same thing and the fix is costly but it sounds to me like Chrysler knows about it and ignores it.
I was driving my car last week and the electronic throttle control light came on then went off happened maybe 3 or 4 times but nothing of it. . . So today I'm on my way from work I make a stop on my way home go to start the car and leave and I turned the key but nothing the radio and lights all work but it's not even attempting to start. I thought maybe I needed a jump I tried that and still nothing I have roughly 56000 miles and I service the car regularly I need an explanation because this is obviously a common problem from multiple threads I've read about this car. Chrysler needs to be held accountable!!!!.
Just like everyone else's complaint on the 2008 Sebring. The electronic throttle control light comes on. The cars rpms rev high but the car won't even be going fast. The car will speed up on its own and jump while sitting at a red light. Then once the light comes on and you cut the car off if you try to crank it back up it went cut on. This is ridiculous. I've almost wrecked quite a few times. Nobody knows whats wrong amd when you take it to the dealership they don't know either and they are all rude. And they charge you 100$ to diagnose it. If you don't know anything about vehicles you should def not work for Chrysler and should not charge people for the diagnostic.
The car is less then 6mo I purchased the car with extended warranty, they now saying that the extended warrant only cover the engine and the transmission, the electronic throttle control is faulty, the whole throttle body has to be replace the shop then tells me that throttle body on the car was from a junk yard the sensor is warped. J. D byryder has been giving me the run around about fixing my car that I still pay a car note on every two weeks. And have never missed a payment.
While driving my car stalled and suddenly, without warning cut off! needless to say, this is very dangerous. I immediately took my car to dealer and was charged over $500 for tune-up, oil change, and diagnostic check. Engine light came back on within one week. I cannot afford the costly repairs when mechanics cannot diagnose the issue. However, more importantly, I cannot afford to be hurt in a car accident. Back to the mechanics spending $146. 00 for oxygen sensor ~ engine light back on within one week! car stalling and idol is extremely high ~ car cutoffs continues. . . . Emissions test time ~ failed! now told need new power control monitor. According to the mechanic " codes are being shown for no reason".
Firstly found the driver's seat belt beeps while driving with the seat belt on; one week ago, stopped by the police at night, saying all the rear lights didn't function, including the stop lights, turn signals; a self checking found all the light bulbs are good, but the front left turn signal doesn't work, both front left and rear right lights are on for a long time after shutting off engine and light switch. Yesterday I took it to olathe Chrysler shop/dealer to check up my car. They found both the multi function switch and the totally integrated power module should be replaced. Otherwise the car may catch a fire or lead to accidents. This is 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. As far as I know no accident has happened to it. I am sure this model has hidden safety issues. Because it has the same problem like the newer models of Chrysler Sebring, Dodge, etc. Which have recalls. I don't hope accidents happen to me or others.
The electric throttle light came on. Car loses power and then will only go 5miles p/hr. . Very dangerous situation when you are on the freeway in busy traffic.
Engine is stalling once car is cranked. When pressing the brakes to put car in reverse or drive, the car cuts off. Once able to get into drive and try to drive, the car's brakes can not be touched or the car will stop instantly. The car also does stop and go driving like it's pulling on something heavy.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. The vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic who inspected the failure and stated that the electronic stability control needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 137,000. Mah.
Electrical and engine problems defective engine caused car to cut off intermittently.
When I am driving and it is raining or has rained or if the car is wet there is an issue with the car skipping/ stalling out when you accelerate. This only occurs when the car is wet. It has cut completely off at an intersections before. This usually happens with speeds less than 40 mph or you can hear and feel it pulling/ when driving at higher speeds. I thought it was the spark plugs going bad and had them replaced that they did not fix the problem. This is dangerous because you are not able to determine when it will stall out/skip. I have taken it to the dealership on numerous occasions and they could not determine what the problem could be. Or state no problem found. This has gone one for two years.
For the past few months, my car has been stalling while waiting at a stop sign and while running smoothly on the highway will suddenly skip and miss. I attributed this to "bad gasoline" or as my father would say, air in the line. I finally took the car to an automotive shop and he was unable to find the problem and advised me to take it to a Chrysler dealer to check for idle quality on their computer. I took the car to the local vero beach Chrysler dealer yesterday and was told they could find nothing wrong. When I was leaving, the young woman advisor told me to call aaa if it happened again, even though I told her I had no trouble restarting the car. Something is very wrong here!.
My 2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible top come up while drive 50 miles per hour it happened three times. I am sure the latch was properly inserted each time. The front end suspension jumps easily and brakes make a loud crunch at times. The windshield wipers are constantly loud. . . I can't use them. Replaced them and use soft compound to clean window and rain_x to no avail. I've had this vehicle to two different Chrysler dealerships. . . They state no problem found. Also they refuse to give me a day loan car. I paid $2500. 00 when this vehicle was new for the extended lifetime warranty. This car is so noisy and air streams through the sides and front window. . I informed the dealership in the event the convertible top releases itself again on the highway. . I will stop and call 911 and initiate a police report.
I purchased the vehicle in may of 2007 and within the first few months the car stopped for no apparent reason while driving on 3 separate occasions. The incidents startled me greatly that I requested to receive a new car. The dealership refused and had someone fly in from los angeles, CA to fix. Now after 5 years the car is doing same thing. I presented this safety issue to the manager of the dealership by the name of [xxx]. [xxx] proceeded to tell me that since I did not use him for my servicing that he would not assist me. He flatly told me how could he help me when he didn't make any money off of me. I've been told by other people with this same vehicle that they had the same problem of stopping without any notice. This is dangerous and can cause death or a terrible accident. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
