Horn continuously blows. Pulled fuse to stop horn blowing and disabling the air bag.
I recently got my car and love it except for the fact that water is building up on the driver side floor board in the front. I do not know if its the drain holes or the condensation hose. Either way I am attempting to fix these myself, but there seems to be a large amount of Chrysler owners on several models having the same problem. We need to get this resolved for all the thousands of Chrysler owners having this same issue.
Went out to car to go to the store unlocked my car with my remote and horn started sounding for no reason. Tried to press unlock/lock with remote horn still sounding. At that point I got back in my car tried shutting the doors and starting the vehicle alarm still sounding. After about 10 minutes I kept messing with the remote trying to shut off the horn finally the horn stopped. After a huge embarrassment and several by-standers trying to assist me in shutting the horn off I had to leave my car unlocked while I went into the grocery store. Quickly raced through the store got what I needed went back out to my vehicle started the engine horn continuously went off as I drove home. This is continually happening to me as I drive my car. I feel that this is a safety issue that Chrysler needs to repair free of charge.
Due to an oil sludge issue, my engine cut out on me and now I am having to replace the timing chain and possibly the motor. I haven't gotten the full report back yet.
Car alarm or horn will go off in the morning when its wet/damp whenever I unlock with clicker or manually with a key. It will go off for about 30 seconds then shut off. Only until recently did the horn start going off while driving in the morning for 20-30second spurts. This would happen on freeways and residential roads. Had to disconnect the horn relay which I understand is also associated with the airbag to stop the honking. I do not feel comfortable driving without an airbag but that is the only short-time solution I have. I also understand to fix it is well over 1000 dollars and even then is not a permanent fix.
My accelarator has been sticking and begin not long after I bought the car used in 2010. I thought at first it was the car mat getting in the way but that was not the case this last time on Sunday October 2,2011. I was pulling into parking space and had my foot off the accelarator when the car accelarated on its own and I hit the cement curb which was taller than most. There was substantial damage to the lower passenger side of the car. I was able to slam on the brakes getting it to stop before further damage. My daughter was in the car with me but no one was injured. If the curb would not have been tall the car would have more and likely jumped it and ran into building, but because of height of it this did not happen. I then got out and inspected the damage which was less than I thought it would be and no air bags disbursed.
In the middle of the night and then while driving, the horn will begin to blare (like someone laying on it without letting up) for 30 seconds or more. I initially took the car to my local mechanic who could not reduplicate the issue and even performed an electrical diagnostic test. One week after getting the car back from the mechanic who could not find the issue, the horn blared in the middle of the night again. I believe this is a safety issue because, this morning, I will need to deactivate the horn relay again. If the horn goes off in the middle of traffic which it has done to me before, it can cause confusion and anger. Without the horn, however, I do not have the means to alert another driver of a potential incident (example, another driver attempting to change lanes and not realizing I am in lane next to them). Also, I understand I am not the first one to complain about this exact same issue. From other complainants, I see that the horn is tied in with the airbag assembly in the steering wheel/column, so apparently the airbag is affiliated in this malfunction, again a safety issue and very expensive repair I cannot afford to make.
Well I have been at chysler concerning my brakes, smell of smoke and my engine keep coming on and each time poor customer service. They will not tell me what exactly is going on and I am very upset with the poor customer service. This is taking time from my work and cost consuming. My car has 11,051 miles and that is ridiculous that I go back and forth. I am very upset of the poor service and feel they are not putting the proper parts in my car. My break still squeak and I brought extra warranty for this car. The poor service and deciet is terrible. I am going to the media with this issue. Nothing has not change and I called customer service at the chysler corporate office and they treated me with total disrespect.
On my way home from work on Friday June 22nd, the car was running very rough and I had trouble braking. On Monday June 25. I had been at a stoplight. When the light turned green I accelerated and when I was at about 25 mph I stepped on the gas pedal, tand had trouble gaining speed and the control light came on. I turned on my flashers and made it to a mechanic, but by that time the light had gone off. Every mechanic I have talked to tells me they can not determine the problem is and fix it unless the light is on when I bring in the car. When the light is on I have trouble accelerating and braking is very hard. This has happened numerous times and I believe this is a safety hazard and could cause serious accidents. I don't know what to do to get this fixed - no one seems to want to deal with this.
My car, 2005 Chrysler Sebring, 2. 4 dual over head (VIN 1c3el46x95n6) has a broken motor mount bracket (front). It is on national back order and cannot be attained in the near future. Over 250 people are waiting for this part and are currently on the waiting list, as am I. I cannot attain this part and further damage is being done to my vehical because I have no choice but to drive it without the bracket. Chrysler coorp. Refuses to provide me with a rental for the time being.
I just got my car and it already has problems I was interested in the dealer where I got to fix it since I only had it about 2wks I really like my car.
Front-end noises were reported to the selling dealer when the vehicle was under warranty. After three shop visits to a cary, nc, dealer during which the technicians "could not replicate the problem," we decided to just live with the noises. After moving from north carolina to florida, the noises got worse. A clermont, FL, Chrysler deal charged us $100 to check out the problem and "couldn't find anything," but they did offer to replace the ball joints and control arms for about $1100. By that time, of course, it was out of warranty. We took it to a private mechanic, who found that the ball joints and control arms did indeed need to be replaced, so we did. The disconcerting part of this is that the problem when the vehicle only had about 30,000 miles on it and that the techs at two dealers either couldn't determine or didn't bother to determine the cause of the problem. Then, the replacement that should have been done under warranty had to be done out of pocket at about 58,000. I understand that this sort of thing could be very dangerous. Now, from the front end sounds we're hearing again, we may need to have cv joints replaced. We have an extended drivetrain warranty, and that is supposed to be covered, so it will be interesting to see how the Chrysler dealer handles it.
Fax from congressman following up on a July 2010 letter on behalf of constituent re Chrysler recalls (2007 Chrysler Sebring)-respond to birmingham, al office. The consumer stated there were six recalls related to the vehicle. However, when he contacted the manufacturer, he was informed the recalls did not apply to his vehicle identification number.
I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The problem is that it has door handles that have a metal covering on them. I have replaced them several times. The metal covering on the handles start to peel off and it cuts your hands if not careful. My granddaughter required stitches from opening the back door. I have also had serious cuts. After talking to other Sebring owners I have found that they have the same problems with the door handles and being cut. I would like to she this changed to different handles, however I am only able to get the same type of handle for my car.
I was driving to work and the horn went off all by itself. I quickly pressed the horn in response and it went off. It has continued to do this and considerably gotten worse. It goes off even when the car is not started. When I remove the fuse it stops. . . However I cannot get it inspected for feel safe to drive with the fuse out.
2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible top not working properly. Top is getting stuck half way when lowering. Took it to dealership and they would not repair. Accused me of damaging and wanted to charge me $700 to repair. I refused to pay it and have not been able to use the top. Lease is now up and I am afraid they are going to come after me for the cost.

The car was being driven by [xxx] traveling northbound on the algonkian parkway in loudoun county. The car was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed and left the roadway and crashed. 2008 Chrysler Sebring electrical system recall 08v152000 NHTSA: action number: n/a service bulletin number: 08v152000 report date: Apr 02, 2008component: electrical systempotential units affected: 180963manufacturer: Chrysler llc summary: Chrysler is recalling 180,963 my 2007-2008 Sebring and Dodge avenger vehicles equipped with a standard tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). Unused electrical connectors for the tpms may become corroded and could short circuit, which can cause a variety of conditions including engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling. Consequence: engine stalling could cause a crash without warning. Note: myn car has the same symptons has described in this recall. Especially the stalling at lights on first acceleration. Then yo have to stop the car put it in park and restart and go. Tire pressure light comes on when I have these intermitnent problems. A accident waiting to happen and get rear-ended. Unfortunately my car VIN does not fall in this recall for some unexplanable reason. Can it be extended to cover my car. Thanks for your time!!!!!.
My Sebring stalls when I come to a stop or am traveling at low speeds. The car has stalled in the middle of intersections and is obviously very dangerous to drive. The car additionally lunges at low speeds or when I accelerate. The seatbelt light on the dash goes on and off sporadically. I have determined through personal investigation the wire connection for the seatbelt light is under the driver seat and it doesnt always make a good connection. When the connector is touched the light will go off and on so that tells me that the connector has a short and is faulty. A plastic part in the gear shift has broken and made it impossible to shift without manipluation with a screw driver, and there is a loud clicking sound that comes out of the air condition vent/duct when the ac is turned on. I have owned many vehicles through the years and this is the first car that I have purchased that I am actually scared for my family and I to drive anywhere. I will never again purchase a chrylser, but not just because of the above but because they have not gained my trust. This company should try a new campaign of trying to gain the trust of the consumer, and they could start by accepting the fact that they have many faulty vehicles that need to be recalled and repaired, this is not only good sound advice this would be good business practice.
Passenger front wheel is making loud noise.
The contact owns a 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While approaching a stop sign, a police officer informed the driver that the undercarriage of the vehicle was on fire. The driver exited the vehicle just as it became completely engulfed in flames. There were no injuries, but both a police and fire report were filed. The current and failure mileages were 91,000.
The horn on my 2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible randomly goes off when the vehicle is first started and when the vehicle is being driven. This causes a safety issue by distracting the driver of the vehicle and drivers of other vehicles. This is caused by a problem where the company logo that is mounted on the steering wheel nterferes with the horn pad in the sterring column.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the cup holder was supposed to come with a specially designed cup. The contact went to the dealer to inquire about the cup and was informed that the cup was never put into production. The contact stated that the cup holder's temperature goes up to 140 degrees. The contact is unsure of what type of cup can be used in the cup holder without damaging the vehicle. There was no failure. The current mileage was 2,900.
2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible. Horn goes off intermittently for not reason and nothing will stop it. Horn doesn't work when I need it. Called Chrysler. No help at all. Told them that it's clearly an engineering problem and that they should check online to see that there are thousands of complaints. The (vice president) refused to listen to me, denied there was a problem and told me I was on my own. How do you start the recall process? there is no fix for it.
The 2007 Chrysler Sebring touring car was listed in the consumer magazines as having a steering and driving feel issue. It tends to make you over correct left and right. It is very hard to drive and is dangerous to drive on slippery, rain, wet, light snow surfaces. On dry surfaces there is already the isue of trying to go straight without overcorrecting . There a lack of road feel and plenty of body roll like a 1970 or 1980 mercedes . I own a 2007 2. 7 touring 6 cylinder Chrysler Sebring now for 4 years and I have had the same issues from the first day I bought it new. The dealers say they can not find anything wrong with it. Why in 2007 the consumer magazine who tested the cars wrote it up as haviing a bad steering feel that they were uncomfortable with, and they were expert drivers. You can not control this car under saftely under normal to light rain and light snow driving conditions. You have to slow down under the highway driving speed of 45mph,which can get you a ticket, on intersection speed of 55-60 mph. I have been drving for over 40 years with a very good driving record. I am surprised that a car like this would be sold to the public using old or outdated technology just for a profit no matter who gets hurt. When the transmission would not come out of park I was sent a recall from Chrysler and they fixed no fee. I have had wiring issues bulbs blowing and speedometer lights out so you can not see at night. Trouble with fuses and modules to be replaced. I had to at least notify someone on this website . I was'nt aware of this site and I am glad that you guys do the good work that you are doing.
The contact owns a 2003 Chrysler Sebring coupe. The entire instrument panel was warped and the padding was loosened from the panel. There was no prior warning to this defect. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The contact was concerned of the possibility of the air bags deploying. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 108,000.
All 4 interior door handles the chrome plating has split leaving a razor sharp free edge. Passenger door handle caused a serious cut to a passenger who attempted to open the door.
After driving off the lot with a new 2002 Chrysler Sebring lxi, consumer observed a noise from the lower drivers side and felt vibration from the steering column. The noise is a rattling noise that sounds like metal slapping or tapping against metal. This occurs regularly at high and low speeds once the engine reaches normal operations (after the car has been driving for a few minutes). The dealer has been notified three times and has not solved this problem. They resulted to saying that the noise is from a transaxle splash guard, but they tried to recreate the noise by pushing the splash guard against the transaxle, but the noise did not disappear.
On Monday 7/11/05 my daughter was driving my 1999 Sebring convertible. While driving without incident the rear passenger ball joint apparently broke causing the vehicle to go into a spin and total loss of control of the car. The tire was seperated from the vehicle while driving. The police officer at the scene talked to witnesses who saw the tire wobbling just prior to losing control. I arrived at the scene and was told by the officer that the ball joint broke causing the accident to occur and said that the driver was not speeding and did not find her at fault for the mechanical failure. When I arrived I saw the rear passenger tire laying flat on the ground. The officer also told me that my insurance company would not cover the repair due to it being a mechanical failure so I must now pay $1000 to the garage which is repairing it. Money I just don't have! I am a single mom and this hurts a lot. Not to mention that my daughter came really close to being badly injured and very possibly killed as she also missed the fire hydrant by mere inches. What can I do about this???? this is just wrong. I really loved my car and now I'm afraid it is a death trap. Help me please and I hope this is handled.
Top coat (paint) fading on the trunk and hood of 2000 Chrysler Sebring. The original color was black but it is now a very light grey.
More water after another heavy rain - only on passenger side floorboard this time. Dealership resealed all windshield molding to correct water leak.
Since owning the vehicle the stitching around the convertable window has come undone. The consumer called the manufacturer about the problem and got no response.
As with many Chrysler vehicles, my paint is fading. I have contacted the regional manager and he declines to paint my vehicle at the expense of Chrysler, although Chrysler is aware that there is an issue with their paint.
The paint on the entire top of the car has failed. The top, hood and trunk. The car is parked undr a car port and only has 50,000 miles.
The paint is disappearing on the spoiler, trunk, top, quarer-panel and now the hood of my black 1998 Sebring. Mirrors are dulling. Dealership offered to pay $600 after we have the car painted and take it back to them. This will not cover the expense of a quality paint job (that we paid for when we bought the car). Estimate to fix visible damage (excepy hood) was $2404, but unless the car is resurfaced the paint will fail again.
Paint is desolving down to the clear coat. On roof of car. When to Chrysler body shop timonium maryland. Took photo and sent complaint. Have not received satisfaction. Car is now over 36,000 miles. Roof needs to be repainted. Should I have to pay? because seems like sun is eating paint off car. Car only 3 yrs old.
The consumer purchased a 96 Chrysler Sebring in April of this year, and was told by the private owner, from whom he purchased the vehicle, the odometer worked intermittently. But since he had the vehicle, he learned the whole dash board did not properly work. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and was told, in order to repair the odometer, it would cost $ 500. 00. The consumer requested assistance.
Paint fade on trunk and roof of a black 1998 Sebring lxi.
Consumer will describe vehicle problems.
The trottle stuck on my 1996 Chrysler seabring. I was passing a vehicle and when ii went to brake and get in front of him I couldn't stop. The engine was reving at 8000 rpms. And I was holding the brakes as hard as I could and I was going about maybe 60 mph. I did get the car to come to a stop, after having to turn 2 corners very fast and going through an intersection. I had put it back and forth form nurtal & reverse and when the car was slow enough I put it in park and turned the key off. I came close to using a wall, or a house under construction for a way to stop. I was extreamy scarred and lucky that no one was hurt and at the time, no one had been going through the intersection. Today we called Chrysler and they will fix the problem, but we need to get the car there. It is unsafe to even start the engine right now. We looked on line and found NHTSA campaign # 02v186000.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Floor mat raised up under the gas pedal. There is a bolt from steering on the bottom to the floor. The bolt got caught on the floor mat which didn't allow it to turn.
The mat on the dirver's side became caught in the steering column base. The mat started to move and caused diffculty with controlling the car while turning a corner. I was able to pull off of the road after completing the turn and pull the mat back out. The binding off of the mat had to be removed by the service dept. At the dealership. I was told there was nothing they could do to cover the steering column to prevent it from happening again.
Nhtsa has been kept apprised of my lack of progress thus far with the dealer and Chrysler customer service in michigan via copies of my letters to them. Maroone had attempted to install this recall 5 times but still being unsuccessful have now just blamed the problem on me and other drivers. As far as I know, they are "through with it. ". This, of course, might leave my vehicle in an unsafe condition. Copies of my letters should be in your files and I will cooperate in any way. Please contact me with questions. John watter.
Floor mat on the driver's side pushed up under the gas pedal and became entangled with the steering column universal joints that pierce the firewall, binding vehicle control. The dealer just repositioned the floor mat.
We have had many other similar problems with this car since ownership. We missed the time limit on lemon law by 2,000 mi. And arbitration sais that this does not impare our driving the car and the dealer sais that we should be thankful that it is not engine trouble, also you have to expect problems with a new car. Chrysler has never aknowledged my letters.
You have a previous recall for this on my car. I tested the vehicle and it was inoperational. I brought it back to a Dodge dealer 4 times before a final repair attempt. At this point they had put it in 1 new part, which is a self adjusting cable. This does not fix the problem though. Their other attempts at fixing my car was to bend a pin back into place that had bent. On the final reapair attempt they again put a whole new assembly in, again in 2 days my car was inoperational. Chrysler said that I was breaking my car and it was all my fault. I wouldn't buy it so I took them to arbitration to try to get my money back for this lemon of a car. At the hearing Chrysler said that they themselves noticed a problem with their cable and started to install a new self adjusting cable per your recall notice stated* in all the new cars coming off of the assembly line as well as in the recalled vehicles. The new car arbitration board where I live determined that this new part was an engineer flaw and was not doing its job and produced a safety hazzard as stated in your recall notice. I am seriously concerned for the safety of other motorists who did not receive such a recall notice in the mail and are unaware of this problem. Chrysler has become aware of it at the hearing, and whether or not they choose to divulge this information I am not sure. I thought that I would divulge it to you so that maybe some further action can be taken. Also I would like to note that not all of the mechanics and service advisors are sure as to how to perform this test correctly. I went into gulf coast Dodge on cleveland Ave. In ft. Myers florida, to have my vehicle fixed, along with several other problems. I was upset and crying, my service advisor assured me that he would make sure that my car was operational. Upon returning to pick up my vehicle they didn't repair my car at all, saying that there was no problem found at this time. No safety defect listed within summary.
Coolant used in the vehicle did not contain enough corrosion inhibitors, as a result the engine block and cylinder head core plugs corroded which caused the coolant to leak. The engine was removed and all core plugs replaced. The mfr. Had a recall for this but the VIN# was not eligible for the recall.
