Exterior Lighting Problems of Chrysler Sebring - part 1

I was on my way to work. All the warning light appeared on my dash. Then all the warning light, radio, speedometer gage and all head light and tail lights went out. I was driving in the dark. My engine bogged down no power. I was barley moving. I replaced the battery no difference. I replaced the alternator worked for 3 minutes and then the car was back to the same as before. I contacted a nearby mechanic facility they told me that it was most definitely the fuse panel under the hood. That's its not a recall but a lawsuit replacement. I notified the manufacturer and they told me my VIN number was not under recall. I'm confused on what to do not. I'm in no way able to purchase a new vehicle at this time. Nor spend hundreds or thousands in repairs. Please help.

New battery, plugs and wires, new alternator. It will run for 5 seconds after jumping, then lights pop on and it dies. When jumping the negative also throws a spark while trying to start.

I was driving my car & listening to music. All of a sudden my passenger side dash speaker started smoking, then was shooting fire. I had a bubbler drink & splashed it across the dash onto the speaker. It was scary, as I thought my engine might blow up. I took it to the shop, but they were so busy, it sat for a week, & I finally said forget it(I would have been too costly) & I needed my vehicle to get to work. Many things failed after that; gas gauge; speedometer needle; right turn signal; & radio. Other things but just can’t remember at the moment.

Dash board lights go on and off and sometimes does not come on at all and at night I am unable to see how fast I am going which could cause an accident or a fine.

The convertible roof would open with pausing. The trunk was stuck open not closing but you could hear motor. Now trunk closed and stay closed with no motor sound. Convertible top isn't opening but when car drives at 30mph the roof flies open. The dashboard light would go off and on while driving,causing unable to see mph or anything. I can not drive due to fear of being in a accident or causing one since the car is malfunctioning and the roof will fall off on routine driving on highway with speed limits the car can't exceed.

Instrumental cluster dash lights is defective part.

The lights went out alot and I would giggle the wire to get them to fully turn on. Then that stopped working. We have tried different routes of trying to get them to work but nothing will. It can only be driven during the day now.

To NHTSA I just purchase a 2007 Chrysler sabring. I took my daughter and myself out to dinner that evening and enjoyed our night as we got back in the car an start heading home just as I got on the freeway I suddenly realize that the interior dashboard light went out and it is not turning on . I was unable to see the speed thermometer. I pulled over and took a uber home. I look online regards to this part it is called instrument cluster. From what I read online this part goes out all the time on this vehicle. Unable to see what speed I'm going. I cannot drive please help to have this part fixed repair or replace the instigate cluster (interior lights) all other interior lights like the radio heater/ac panel lights works. I thank god thatthe traffic on the highway was not happy or busy I was able to pull over to the side of the freeway and then I look at all the panels the button for the lights and no matter what I did interior like did not turn on. There was no accident caused by this because I was safe but it is unsafe for driving on the road not able to see the speed you're going. Can we please figure out how to get this taking care of that is dangerous to drive at night unable to see the speed when but they stream crossing you don't know how fast you're going to estimate when to press on your break. Knowing younger kids think they know how to control the speed and I think not to be put in that position when you cannot see the speed it will take a chance on anything to my heart is not safe to drive on road at all I just wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart to safety committee group for the government I urge you please take care of the situation and issue thank you for taking the time and reading my request . Takata recall my dash lights don't work and I can't see how fast I'm driving down the road at night time.

We just bought a used car, this Chrysler Sebring, on 3/28/19. My daughter drove it home in the dark last night and said that there was no lighting in the instrument panel. After doing some research, I see that this often happens. Happens when vehicle is still and moving. I'm assuming this happened to the previous owners.

While driving the dashboard lights flickered then went out, my convertible top has a malfunction and will not open and the door locks unlock and lock on their own.

While driving - electrical issues. Fuel gage does not work. Dashboard display lights go out intermittently, power window issues, tire pressure (tpms) light comes on,.

I've put 2 starters on my 2007 chysler Sebring in the last 3 months. The car starts greats then while driving it starts to make this loud grinding noise and once you cut the car off it just clicks. This time it did the same thing but this time when I cut the car off it kept running and I had to go turn the ignition switch off again and of course it won't start.

My instrument panel has no background lights, they do t turn on at all. I took it into a local shop and they said all the fuse are good and they think it might be a modgular (battery) that needs to be replaced. I have seen a lot of other owners having this same issue with their Sebring as well.

"takata recall " my car dashboard lights all went dead and all the fuses are good. Turn on car one evening and dashboard wss not lit up. I cant see my speed or gas gage nothing on all dashboard. So I drove home 30 miles in the night not knowing ir I was going to slow or fast.

I have researched and several of these cars have this issue. I bought my car used August 2018,I love this car. . . But. . The dash lights have never worked!! so, if you drive my car at dark you have no idea how fast you are driving!! please won't you fix this? this is a costly repair, that is too well known for these cars and makes it very dangerous!!! also, the cruise is affected and does not work as well. Please fix for me.

Dashboard was dim with airbag indicator light always on when purchased. The problems started with dashboard lights going in and out and the wipers not working properly around November of last year. Was told fuses needed to be changed, so they were. Same issue. Then 3 months ago taillight bulb went out, changed it and the taillights have not worked since. Was told it has to be taken to dealer authorized shop for electrical box repair after taking car to three different shops who all said they could not find the issue. Today battery looking light came on and before I could turn around to go back home the car immediately shut off and would not start without a jump. The lightning bolt in parentheses came up and car accelerated without my foot being on gas but would not go above 30 mph once I made it home it turned off and refuses to start 6 hrs later. The battery light, lightning bolt symbol and airbag lights all show on dash and will not go off.

We were in a car accident and although we were hit in the front, the air bags did not deploy.

Past few weeks been noticing issues with the car. 1. Sun visors hit me in the face 2. Car stalls to start 3. Lights hardly work even when you try to put on high beams 3. Fluid doesn't stay in the car 4. Car cuts off in mid driving 5. Car also can cut off when you apply brakes . Car back tire smokes. Was not in a accident with anyone car cut off on me while driving I was able to own my own bring car to stop.

Jun'17 instrument panel lighting quit operation or intermittent. Very difficult to drive at night. Need flashlight to see dash. Took to mechanic and he is aware of this issue on instrument panel printed circuit board on same vehicles.

Horn and passenger side low beam went out on my 4-cyl. 2. 4l 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan about a month ago. I replaced the bulb, which is labor intensive on this car in itself and the low beam still did not work. I tested the new bulb and it worked fine. I moved the bulb to the drivers side headlamp and it worked fine. The harness for the bulb connector carries a 12v current but still the low beam does not work. Every online search points to a faulty tipm(totally integrated power module). I can't afford a new one at $595 and that's if I replace it myself. I'm unable to find a compatible used part at salvage yards in the area and Chrysler dealer says there is currently a month long national backorder on the part and is unsure if I'll have a replacement in a month. This alone should be a red flag that there is an underlying issue at Chrysler. In the mean time I continue to search salvage yards and am looking for a way to bypass the tipm to get the headlamp working, which in itself could still leave me open to other failures on the tipm. All this said, I'm wondering if other electrical components will start to go soon as well. As it is I'm having a problem with the horn, which I believe also runs through the tipm.

My car lights on the inside do not turn on have tried replacing all fuses the radio also will not come on also have tried replacing fuses the right door does not latc and can only be opened from the inside the left door only can open from the outside the steering wheel makes a noise when trying to turn and tries to locked up but I do have steering fluid in there the right back blinker stops working at random timessage even with a new bulb the seat belt light blinks and dings even with seat belts on also the oilast light comes on even with oil in it and the horn does not work.

All warning lights are on. The head lights are going off. Happens in motion and stationary.

Interior dash lights flicker on and off at night, sometimes remaing off. As such, speedometer isn't illuminated, as well as other guages. I googled this condition and by the responses I saw, this is a widespread problem in the Chrysler Sebring and there should be an immediate recall before someone gets hurt from diverting attention from the road to the dash situation. This happens if the vehicle is stopped, moving, turning, on a city street and in highway conditions. It happens when traveling on smooth pavement or rougher conditions. The vehicle is in like new condition and has never been wrecked.

Most recently the electronic throttle control light came on, the owners manual indicates that the vehicle may loose control of speed and cause an accident. Further research indicated that this was a common problem and that people have lost control of there vehicles and or been in accidents as they were unable to slow down or stop do to this issue. Many of the complainants on line were individuals with young children as I am and have serious concerns for injury or death. Local dealers had issues resolving the problem. My second issue which is also a common issue for Chrysler owners is that the instrument cluster lights go out and cease to work and you will not be able to see any of your instruments at night such as your speed, tachometer, gas gauge,engine temperature ect. This is a big safety concern as you can not see your speed at night or early in the morning when kids are going to school and reduced speeds are in affect, as well as being able to know if your running out of gas or car is overheating causing further damage. I did although find a recall for different models with gas gauge issues as a safety concern for running out of gas. This instrument cluster issue has to be far worse than the gas gauge recall as it causes the same concerns plus several more in just one problem. When I called the recall line they said that its not on the recall list but was able to confirm the gas gauge issue I attached below. Fuel gauge may overstate fuel level models : Chrysler Sebring, Dodge avenger engine, March 16, 2009 the began March, 2009. The Chrysler recall number is j02. I will be forwarding this complaint and posting to the executives of Chrysler as well as my local media, and insurance company for validity of my complaint. I hope to be contacted for this issue to be resolved.

I first noticed the light in the analog click go out, then the light in the shifter and overhead lamp. Most importantly is my power locks stopped working. I purchased a 5 batteries for my remote key and when that didn't work I purchased a new set of keys. The horn and lights would sound but the locks would not lock. I have to manually lock my doors and I'm unable to access my trunk unless I crawl in from the back seat and hit the release. I've had several people look over my car and I no one can figure this out. I finally started researching and I see several recalls but because my car was not built in a certain time and location I'm not qualified for the recalls unless I pay out of my own pocket. I can't even trade it in and get a good enough price due to these malfunctions. I will by no means trust Chrysler or Dodge vehicles.

Driving down the highway at night and dash light started flickering and then went off. I understand this is a common problem on this type of car.

The electrical in the dash started flickering on and off without warning. Eventually it stopped working all together. I took it to a service dept I work at and they told me I needed to take it back to the dealer because they would have to rip the whole dash apart and replace it. That would cost me around $600. Seems like other people have had the same problem. Has this ever been a recall?.

I purchased a 1998 Chrysler Sebring lxi the car has numerous problems, one is the control arm in the vehicle. This is a list of other evac problems - I was told that there was a recall on my vehicle for various problems - please advice - need help - called Chrysler dealerships and first they said my vehicle was not affected - then they tell me they can charge me $149. 00 to reset the computer catalyst(g)/nmhccatalyst(d) evaporative system(g)/ unsupportive(d) 02 sensor(g) exhaust gas sensor(d) 02 sensor heater (g) pm filter (d) egr/vvt (g,d) po455 evaporative emission system leak detected (large leak) my headlamps are yellow and my rear window looks like there is some kind of mold sandwiched into the glass and defrost. . . Almost impossible to see out of at night.

While driving the digital readout on the dash, information panel and radio lights for the mileage, gear selector, miles till empty and radio display will get very dim and then go back to bright. I took a video of this happening while driving and when dim they flutter. Have had 3 dealerships and 2 mechanics look at it and nobody can figure out what it is!.

The horn doen't work , check engine light always on, airbags light on clock spring needs to be replace, and it seems that a lot of people are having the same problem . . . My car wont be able to pass the emission test. . . Ac compressor doesn't work.

My instrumental cluster lights went out so I can not see anything at night. My speed control/cruise control is no longer functioning.

My 2007 chyrsler Sebring is stuck at work in park! it wont come undone. Did everything I thought would trigger it. Brake bulbs, tire lock, gas cap etc etc. So my car is sitting in my work garage until I find out how to fix it.

This car is a nightmare when it rains. I traveled one and a half hours in a storm. The water on the back drivers side floor where I had clothes in a small pile. . They were literally floating from so much water that was pouring in. At any time that I had to stop at a light the water would then come to the front in a huge wave of water. What the heck is that?.
