Four problems related to wiring have been reported for the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wiring problem

While driving 25 mph vehicle caught on fire. Fireman indicated fire started with an electrical wire. Dealer contacted. Vehicle is a total loss.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2000

Air bag, horn, and cruise control apparently electrically linked.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 07/27/1997

Electrical: started vehicle , heard loud noise, saw smoke coming from engine, and noticed flames coming through the vent. Cause of fire unknown.

4 Wiring problem

Windshield wipers are activated by using the turn signals or changing the light beams from low to high or vice versa at least once each time the car is driven. Drove 64 miles today and it happened three times. Very frustrating. The scratches in the windshield are beginning to make night driving more difficult and unsafe. ****dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12-12-02 cut over to artemis****.
