Power Steering Pump problems of the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country

Four problems related to power steering pump have been reported for the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/01/1999

Belt and the tension rod in power steering assembly broke with 30,000 miles on vehicle. Both components were replaced by dealership. On 04/10/2001, consumer was driving at approximately 10 mph here was a popping noise, and power steering was lost. Dealership informed consumer that belt and tensioner rod went out again at 63,000 miles. Dealership stated that this needed to be replaced every 30,000 miles.

2 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/20/1999

When making a left or right turn the steering wheel does not turn. Van was towed to dealership. Dealer found the power steering belt came off. Please list information about other incident.

3 Power Steering Pump problem

When driving through puddles and the belts get wet, power steering locks up, causing a loss of control.

4 Power Steering Pump problem

Tensioner on the power steering belt froze, causing loss of power steering control. Also the tie rod end broke, which resulted in a collision. Please give any further details.
