Starter problems of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Two problems related to starter have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Starter problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2005

Tl- the contact owns a 1999 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that on occasions the vehicle would not start and many times while driving the head lights would suddenly shut off. For each failure the contact indicated that banging on the dashboard would solve the problem. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions and the battery, starter and computer was replaced but the failures continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 65,000. Jft.

2 Starter problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2003

When consumer started their vehicle it wouldn't start, then smoke started coming from under the hood. The dealership indicated that the problem was caused by the starter motor. Please provide more details.
