Five problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My speedometer doesn't read correctly. It indicates that I am driving slower than reality by about 15mph.
Cruse cont does not work horn not working and air bag light is on. All of them worked off and on for a time but not now06.
Event leading to failure: none -(low battery) apparently causes failure (wear/tear item) meaning this is guaranteed to happen every 4-5 years! failure: sudden failure of the tachometer and speedometer guages - after work was performed dealer claimed the pcm module shut off (do not know what this is) which apparently controls these items. Correction: battery replaced due to low battery - apparently I was told that, by design, the pcm module will shut off on a low current condition from the battery but still allow the motor vehicle to operate. This places the vehicle in a condition that it is illegal to drive the vehicle with an inoperable speedometer. In addition, since the module is 'shutoff', no battery warning or check engine warning indicators function to notify you of a problem. This was incorrectly replaced 6 months earlier (Jan 2005) with a new speedometer control.
While driving at 45 mph, car started to accelerate on its own to 50 mph and the brakes would not work. I then pressed the brakes all I could to slow down to 20 mph, the engine was smoking and I could smell burnt rubber. I glided home.
Speed control will not hold set speed on hills or with load.
