general problems of the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

Two problems related to wheel have been reported for the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

2000 Chrysler town and country right front wheel came off while driving. Consumer states that the wheel first came loose but then quickly came off completely, separated from the vehicle and damaged a fence in a front yard. This event began while the van was traveling at about 30 mph. The driver was able to slow down and pull to the side of the road safely. The right front wheel lugs (rim studs) were broken. The studs appeared to have rusted through. The bumper, disk brake, the body around the wheel well and some parts under the van were clearly damaged. There may be additional damage.

2 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

While driving Chrysler t&c front right wheel shook, then came off. Bolts shaved off. I see many other complaints of this, so there is clearly an issue here. I feel so fortunate that I was only driving 15 mph on a side street and was not crossing a busy highway when this incident occurred!.
