The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that the driver's side sliding door erroneously and independently opened. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 144,000.

2 Door problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler town and country. When the contact proceeded to enter the vehicle, the rear passenger side door failed and retracted quickly. As a result, the contact injured his left arm. He went to the hospital to have his arm examined. The contact is in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The Chrysler manufacturer stated that a representative would give him a call back. The contact has not yet received any follow up calls. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 92,000.

3 Door problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2004

We had been having problems with our 2001 Chrysler town and country. The sliding door kept opening while we were driving down the road and the door would open. Then while we were on vacation I was driving down the highway and the door caught on fire. Within 2 minutes the whole car was in flames if my three children had been in the car I am not sure if I would of been able to get them all out. The fire department got there in good time but it was to late. The whole van and everything in it was totally destroyed.

4 Door problem

Right door opens and closes automatically.

5 Door problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2002

Child got fingers caught in right side power sliding door, and mechanism did not release. Had to manually open door.

6 Door problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2001

Passenger's side electric sliding door came ajar. Consumer heard an alarm, and within seconds door opened about 2 to 3 inches while driving. Consumer automatic sensor triggered it to close back. Consumer felt this was very unsafe because children were in vehicle. Consumer has contacted manufacturer. Please provide any further information.

7 Door problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2001

Rear side doors were remotely controlled. Were opened, but got hung up on shopping bag. Owner put arm through door to remove shopping bag, and door started closing. It failed to reopen while arm in door way. Sensor had failed. It crushed arm. After arm was jerked out, it continued to close & locked. Also lock button had released when arm was raised, and door flew open.

8 Door problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2001

Consumer's child had gotten finger caught in gears of power door. . Has contacted manufacturer.

9 Door problem

Electric sliding side door became impossible to open manually. It would still operate with electric motor but made a grinding noise. In case of an accident, passengers in rear seats would have a hard time opening door ans exiting vehicle.

10 Door problem

The driver side sliding door froze, and did not unlock. The door cannot be opened manually, with remote, or with the auto button. This problem occurs at least one to two times per week. The dealer was unable to duplicate. Scc.
