Three problems related to front seat recliner have been reported for the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Middle row bucket seats do not always latch easily. When not locked down, the seat springs forward while driving, causing passenger in child safety seat to slam into the seat in front. My daughter's head was somewhat protected by the "wings" on the sides of her child seat, but her forehead showed a mark from the impact, and her mouth was bleeding as a result of the incident. The vehicle was not going more than 15 mph, and was decelerating for a stop sign at the time. The child safety seat was secured with the latch system, so the seatbelt was not in use.
Another vehicle was traveling at 45 mph and rear ended consumer. 's vehicle. Consumer driver's side seatback collapsed on impact. Consumer suffered from neck and leg injuries. Please provide any further information.
The rear seat back was reclined for cargo. When the seat hadle was pulled to raise the seat back to the upright position, the seat back sprung forwards violently striking my wife in the head causing injury. The seat back is apparently spring loaded with no mechanism to control the release of the spring load.
