Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problems of the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country

Two problems related to front suspension wheel bearing have been reported for the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2005

: the contact stated while traveling at 70 mph the wheel bearing went out. The tires locked, causing the vehicle to skid. The electrical harness broke and wrapped around the wheel, causing the tire to skid on the road. Also, the vehicle had no power steering or abs. The vehicle was maneuvered off the road so the traffic could get by. The vehicle was towed to a dealership, and was unable to determine what happened to the vehicle. Updated 02/09/06.

2 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2001

While driving, there was a scraping noise in the front right wheel, the grinding then became worse and the steering wheel was vibrating, and the abs flashed a couple times and went out as the vehcile was going straight, consumer pulled into the driveway and smelled something hot and felt the front right and tire which was hot and the wheel could be shaken very readily, consumer pulled the front right wheel off and a flat washer and regulator nut fell from the front hub, the vehicle was towed and consumer was informed that the parts that were needed were not available and that the bearing dome was loose from the hub, which probably failed due to insufficent torque.
