17 problems related to power window have been reported for the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have researched this with people at work and on online internet forums to find out this is a recurring problem with Chrysler power windows in their vans. I am going to replace the motor myself as it seems the dealerships are taking full advantage of this and charging very high replacement repairs.
Shortly after purchase of vehicle, the driver's side automatic window, once put down, had difficulty going back up. After repeated attempts, finally window went up. Next time window was put down, we could not get it up. Switch was checked. Switch was fine. Motor needed to be replaced ~300.
Chrysler 2001 Town & Country power window motors constantly failing and needing to be replaced.
Power window motors not functioning as well as power door locks.
Driver's side power window failed in 2003 and was replaced by dealer under warranty. Window has now failed for a second time. Symptoms are identical to others reported here--ok on roll down, intermittent or no ability to raise. Any movement is in small increments. Dealer wants $600 to repair. Passenger window works well.
Power windows on driver side is not operating. Started two weeks ago and now stuck in the down position.
My van 2001 Chrysler Town & Country driver's side power window won't go up. Window only rises in 1/2" increments. Dealer said it was a major problem with 2001 models but Chrysler never issued a recall. Said I need a new power window motor.
Window regulator doesn't work.
Driver's side power window will roll down, but fails to come back up. Sometimes, it will come up in small increments. But, usually, I have to wait a long time for it to work. If it's raining and the window is accidentally opened, it is difficult to get back up if driving on the highway, causing a potentially dangerous situation and also potentially getting things inside the vehicle wet that shouldn't get wet.
Windows will open but will only go up in intermittent cycles, moving inches at a time or not at all when pushing the button; have to wait minutes to get it to move only inches. Becomes a major problem when it is raining. Been ongoing for last two years. Started as just driver's side window, but within last year started on passenger side; however, do not have the $400 per window to fix!.
I bought a used 2001 Chrysler town and country lx van,on 04/04/2004 I have had a lot of problems with the drivers side power window. It will go down all the time, bet 99% of the time it comes up 1/4 to 1/2 in. At a time and takes about 1/2 hour to get it all the way up. Chrysler wants $300. 00 dollars to replace it,but I read and get told that this happens to almost all Chrysler and Dodge and Plymouth vans. And even if you fix it chances are it will stop working soon after. This is not right that Chrysler can sell vans and make money off of the bad motors they put in the windows. I get wet if it rains if I for get and run the window down. And I freeze in the winter some times because it won,t come up. Also the timing go,s bad on the front wiper motor a lot and the arms cross over each other and brakes the blades. They know about all this and won,t own up to it. Chrysler needs to be made to fix there junk. I paid good money for the van and im tired of them making out that they don,t no about this problem just so they can make money off of us.
The drivers side window goes down but won't come up. This appears to be happening to literally thousands of town and country minivan owner.
I had to replace the motor in the driver's side window of my Chrysler 2001 town and country. The window would go down but would not go up except in increments of an inch or two. My nephew also has a Chrysler town and country. He also had this problem and did the same repair. Both now work. I waited almost a year before replacing the motor because it was intermittent.
I was reading about the problems drivers are having with their driver side window not going up all the way. We had to have the motor replaced in our drivers door and shortly before that, my nephew who also owns a 2001 Chrysler van, also had to replace the motor in his driver's door.
Driver side power window malfunction. Usually goes down okay but closes a small movement at a time (usually the longer duration between trying the further the window will close).
Driver's side power window fails. There is a moisture problem (leak?) in the front doors of the Chrysler town and country Mini-van. Ours has failed twice, there is a mildew-ish odor when the window is put down. We have discussed this with other owners of the same vehicle and they have had similar problems. This is an on-going problem.
While driving passenger's side window cracked and blew in and out, resutling in injuries to driver and passenger. Contacted dealer. Consumer stated that injuries to child that was who was sitting in the rear seat.
