While the vehicle was stationary or while driving various speeds, water would enter into the brake light casings and cause the circuit system to short out. The contact stated that the brake lights were replaced twice, but the failure recurred. The dealer (jeff wyler springfield Chevrolet in springfield, ohio) was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 131,166.
