Three problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2016

After filling gas tank (fill-up) and driving back into traffic, the engine stumbles badly and stalls intermittently.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2012

Check valve stuck closed, could not put in gas, had to install a new tank at the dealers $800. 00plus it should be under extended warranty like the durango is, it is the same tank.

3 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2011

My family stopped and got gas on our way down to north carolina for christmas. As we left the gas station and pulled across traffic our 2006 Chrysler town and country began to shutter and stalled. After that day, every time we fill up the same thing occurs. I have looked over many sites on the internet and see that there not only many others that have had this same dangerous issue, but it is not just on this model of Chrysler. The only way to repair it is to have Chrysler install a brand new gas tank. They quoted us almost $2000. 00 to replace it when the real issue is a defective vapor/ liquid valve. Our van has under 60 thousand miles on it. Instead of installing a removable valve at the top of the gas tank, Chrysler continued to design vehicles that require new gas tanks when the valve sticks. Not only is this a tremendous safety issue, my family almost was hit by on coming traffic because of this issue. After spending over 2 hours searching the internet and seeing there were windsheild wiper recalls and a glass recall, it became apparent that others will have to get injured or die before Chrysler fixes this issue at there own expense. I am disappointed in this recall system we have. The internet allows us to now see the many dangerous design issues automakers have performed at our expense and our safety. I urge Chrysler owners to search their vehicles concerning the vapor/liquid valves Chrysler welds to their gas tanks. True or not, it is reported that some have been in accidents and died from collisions during this stalling after fill ups.
