VIN# 2a4rr5d16ar298469 ~ a 2010 Chrysler (t&c 230k miles) after turning vehicle on or while driving, these things often happen: 1) front windshield wipers come on by themselves. . . . 2) windows cannot be rolled down at any time while driving or parked 3) dash lights come on (esp, air bag off, rpm, mph, fuel, etc 4) one cannot open the car doors to let people in unless the vehicle is off (only thennnn you can push the key fab unlock button and let people in. . . . So sad). . . .
The car randomly shuts off when driving. We have to put it in neutral & restart quickly to avoid an accident. It can be city or highway. Also, when car is off windows randomly open on their own. Moonroof has leaked since we purchased & rear window fluid won't work.
For the last 2-1-2 to 3 years I have been having problems where all of my indicator lights on the dash - they will start flashing on and off, audio alarm (dinging) goes off, speedometer, rpm/temp gages repeatedly goes back and forth from max to min and windshield wipers will come on. At times turing off the ignition will resolve the problem and at others they just stop by themselves. I have also found that I can temporary alleviate these problems for a few weeks to a couple of months by removing the negative terminal off of the battery and pulling the 60 amp main fuse for 30 - 60minutes. Google sites states this problem is due to a bus/grounding problem. I finally took the vehicle into a Chrysler shop and was advised that the problem was due to a shorted cable that connected to center monitor of my ves system, which was also bad. The last time I used the ves system was two months ago so this does not logically explain why I have been experiencing the problem for almost 3 years. Also this same cable shorted out causing the monitor to go bad and was replaced approximately 7 years ago by the same dealer who now has the vehicle and the indication at that time was that my ves system was inoperable. As this problem has occurred intermittently while driving it presents a safety problem. I called Chrysler's customer complaint department and was advised that the only action that they could take was to call the dealer, advise them that a complaint had been lodged and write up the complaint. Their suggestion was that due to past negative experiences that I have had with this dealership was to take the vehicle to another dealer - no help at all and due to their lack of action an insult to the being called a customer complaint department, bottom line I have a vehicle with serious safety issues which Chrysler will not address. It began with the front wipers coming on (as if it was raining) on a sunny day. . And the switch wouldn't shut it off. Have to pull the fuse to get them to stop. Then this progressed into not cranking, as if dead battery. I believe my problem is in the keyless switch. . As the battery is new, and I've had both battery and alternator checked. Both ok!.
I purchased this car two years ago with a limited mile warranty. A month later the ignition module went, we are constantly taking the car to have breaks front and back and rotors repaired every month on the vehicle. We were given a false carfax report as well. If that wasn't enough there was a faulty spark plug which cost me 800. 00 to remove the head gasket to replace the plugs that were never replaced and had dry rotted. This occurred in July of 2017 after I spent 3k in rental cars to get to and from work. On 8/4/2017 the thermostat blew which cost 200. 00 to repair now the catalyct converter is gone and on 8/5/2017 the car was acting possessed. I came outside side to start the vehicle and noticed the windshield wipers were going off and the car smelt as if it were burning. They keys were not in the vehicle. I need help I have a family size of 6 with small children that ride in this unsafe vehicle every day. It is our only means of transportation to and from work and additionally I pay a monthly car payment of $410. 00 not including insurance.
Tipm went bad on a vehicle with 75k miles, rendering the windshield wipers and power door locks unuseable. One repair to replace "shorted out" windshield wiper motor was not effective.
All warning lights on dash board light up while driving. Wipers come on(won't shut off), if cruise control is on gears won't change. Happens on city street and highway. Purchased in 2014 has been checked 3 times. Temporary fix 2 times. Third time I was told the best guess would cost $1,000. 00. Emphasized that this is a guess. When I stop the vehicle and take the key out and put it back in and restart the car it helps.
Upon starting the car, particularly on damp and/or cold mornings, the electrical system goes haywire. There is no power to the dash, the headlights blink on and off, the locks stop working, the wipers go on by themselves and remain on for the duration of the event. This happens whether the car is parked or in motion. It is not known whether this is impacting the air bags; the fuel gauge reads zero, so it's not known if this will impact the car's ability to continue running; it is also a major distraction if trying to drive. The duration varies, from one minute to 20 minutes. . Read more...

I was driving and I turned the switch on for my wipers. Something smelled like it was burning, and my wipers would not move. Now they have completely stopped working. On 10/12/2013, it was raining in the evening and my wipers just stopped working. Thank god I was really close to home for it was hard to see.
Tl - the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 14v234000. The contact was told by the dealer that the parts were not available when the recall notice was first received. The contact called and went to the dealer 3 times and was still told the parts were not available. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Bt.
While driving through my subdivision, I attempted to turn on the high beams for better visibility. At this instance, the wiper blades turned on and would not turn off. At the same moment, the vehicle lost the high beams, turn signals and windshield solution motor activation. The vehicle remained operational and no one was injured. I had to replace the turn signal, high beam and windshield wiper selector lever.
In trying to find out what was causing my windshield washers to not work, after four visits to the dealer, it was determined that the tip module was bad. (probably causing other problems that I had not checked about). The part is going to cost 850. 00 and is not available due to the inability of the manufacturer to supply the parts fast enough because of the high demand. This car only has 13,000 miles but is four years old so out of warranty. I think due to the large incidence of failure of this part, there should be some compensation or recall information.
Burning of power window/vent switch. During 2013 and early-2014 the electrical power window/vent switch, located on the driver side arm rest, and which controlled the driver¿s side window, became intermitant and erratic when attempting to raise or lower the window. When the problem became acute, I replaced the switch on 4/23/2014 (at my expense); since then no further problems were incurred. The replacement switch assembly purchased from the Chrysler dealership for this repair was identified as Chrysler part number 4602627-ag switch po 08053002. The old switch assembly was later disassembled and showed clear signs of discolored electrical contacts and burning of the areas around the electrical contacts for both the driver¿s side, and to a lesser extent on the passenger side.
Van has wireless ignition system problems. Van has intermittent shut off, van has intermittent no start issues. Van has intermittent warning cluster, wiper, gauges, and headlight shut off and on problems. Van is dangerous to my fam. And others!!!!!!! found recall l-25 but this is fraud recal; only installing rubber ring on win module. Chrysler must service all vehicles with these problems ASAP before they get in more lawsuits and kill more people. Chrysler has case number: s10008000021 release date: 9/7/10 involves wiper, gauge, lighting and cluster problems that is happening to thousands of their units. Also bulletin #: 08-025-11 5/27/11 involves problems with wireless ignition system that is happening to thousands of their units.
About a year after purchase the automatic doors intermittently stop working and rear inside lights would remain on. This didn't effect operation or safety of vehichle so I didn't complain to dealer. No further incidents until September 2013, while on a roadtrip to texas, air conditioner and directionals stopped working. No local dealership in the area so I was forced to bring car to local firestone auto center. They were unable to find source of issue but issue seemed to resolve itself. While away that following December car was left unused for several days and battery was dead. Battery was replaced. Electrical issues continued in March 2014 and pulled car over emergently into sts auto center. They couldn't find source of electrical drain however problem again appeared to resolve itself. Brought car to dealership repeatedly since then. All gages fail while windshield wipers remain on. Dealership has replaced instrument cluster, then a defectove dome light, then claimed the battery was bad and replaced that again, then it was the instrument cluster again. Now I'm supposed to trust this car is going to be reliable and I'm being told be Chrysler that there is nothing more they can do or feel obligated to do. I called in today to file complaint and reported my car is functioning. I just went out to my car and all gages are flashing at me. I must have jinxed myself!.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving 55 mph, the instrument panel gauges malfunctioned and completely failed. In addition, the windshield wipers activated unexpectedly and would not deactivate. The contact activated the headlights, but could not deactivate them without turning off the vehicle. The dealer stated that the instrument cluster was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 38,000.
After starting the vehicle I realized that there was no power to the dashboard/radio area. This meant that the radio, wiper blades, a/c, lights, power windows, power doors or any buttons. After driving it home it would come on and off sporadically. I took it to be looked at and they couldn't find anything wrong. I kept driving it and it would shut off and come back on periodically. It became a problem when I was driving and it was raining and the power shut off and I had no windshield wipers. Luckily there was no accident at that time. I finally found a national tire and battery that figured out that it was the totally integrated power module. This vehicle is way too new to be having electrical problems! after some research I have found that a lot of these vans are having this dangerous problem.

Very unsafe defrosters on the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country limit van. When turned on it blows up in the center but not out on the sides to clear ice or snow in winter in wisconsin. We were on interstate 90 during a snow storm. We had to pull over to clear the windshield. It would not keep the ice and snow from building up on the botton and sides of the outside of the windshield & with that the wipers became thick with ice. Very unsafe to drive under that design. The 2011 Town & Country limit van has a new defroster design now. Any fix for my 2010??.
