general problems of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the front driver's side head restraint deployed. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred immediately after the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed of an unknown recall repair with a similar failure; however, the contact was informed that the recall had expired. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

The contact stated while making a right turn, another vehicle stuck the passenger side of the contact vehicle, causing several damages to both vehicles. All air bags deploy, but the front passenger and driver side air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered several injuries and sought medical attention. A police report was filed. During an accident, the front driver side was impacted. My brother was driving, and hit his head on the windshield after air bags failed to deploy. He rear-ended another vehicle on the highway when he was going somewhere around 40-50 mph. He is handicapped, and therefore was seat belted into his wheelchair in addition to the car seatbelt. It is believed that his chair seatbelt kept him from hitting his head harder or from permeating the windshield. A police report was taken and the vehicle was towed to the contacts residence and was towed again to a insurance mechanic. The contact stated no warning lights was illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,901.

The vehicle shut off while driving. No error codes or poor running performance. It simply shut down. Has happened a few times. This latest event was on the high way at a high rate of speed. With engine off no airbags, power steering/brakes. Family was in the car. Incredibly dangerous situation.

While driving at various speeds the van will shut off we will lose power steering and brakes you lose all power as if the key is off,I will jiggle the key and it will start back up or it will power up, you shift into nuetral and turn the key and start back up it is intermittent and it could happen while driving slow or driving 70mph down the highway.

The contact received notification NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags , electrical system) however, the part to the repairs was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Ak.

2012 Chrysler Town & Country. Consumer is concerned about the safety of vehicle because of recall due to defective airbags. The consumer stated a recent recall, resulted in no parts being available.

Horn will no longer honk,will work using panick on key. Went to dealer 2013-14 they said need new air bag asit is defective. Cost 1000+ I declined. I now have no horn to honk unless I push panic any suggestion?.
