My gas gauge indicated I had more than 1/4 tank full. Instead, it was empty, and I ran out of gas in the middle of the freeway, in the middle of detroit's worst snow storm in 40 years, with a toddler in the back seat. I subsequently filled my car after waiting in freezing cold until an officer pulled over and helped me, and my gas gauge went to completely empty even though I then filled my tank. It stayed at empty for a day until suddenly moving to 3/4 full, and hasn't budged since. I have no idea now how much gas my tank actually has. Despite the snow storm on Sunday when the incident occurred, the temps were not anything extraordinarily cold for a midwest winter, and regardless of temp, the gas gauge should always work. Had I not had my cell phone, or had I been in a more remote area, or had it been dark at night and I was in a dangerous area, the toddler and I could have been in real physical danger. The potential disaster that could have ensued makes me shudder. This is entirely unacceptable. Please look into this for other town and country minivans.
