36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2018

When driving down the road, just straight, or turning, the van will just quit. Instrument panel turns off. It has happened at 40 mph and 20mph. Anywhere, anytime, any speed. We have to put it in n and turn back on before we slow down too much to be rear ended. We have taken this to the dealership where they have no idea. The catalytic something was the only code and was replaced. . . About 1000 repair even though we have a lifetime warranty. This did not work. It quit on me again today while driving. Is there a recall? this is dangerous!!! I put today's date as when it happened because that is the last date it happened. I cannot recall specific dates before, but it has been about 3 months of this.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2018

Having transmission issues. Check engine light came on. Caused by p0740. Dealer engine light is on because the transmission needs to be replaced in a 5 year old vehicle.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2018

Headrest failed, plastic, holding pin broke and headrest came apart. Vehicle was stationary.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2018

We have had to replace 2 faulty flywheels (a. K. A. Flexplates) in our Chrysler Town & Country. The mechanics report that the composite materials used in creating these flywheel/flexplate parts were "less structurally sound than they should have been; therefore causing premature breakdown/failure in otherwise acceptable conditions. ".

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Have had nothing but problems and have nothing good to say about this van!.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Door locks emit a loud, annoying "buzzer sound" when locking. The locking mechanism was inspected by a repair company. The cost to repair was more expensive than we cared to pay.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

Possible black urethane polymer issue as with 2014 & 2015 windshield. Water leakage, wind sound on driver side while driving, when vehicle is on uneven terrain, window scratching sound occurs while driving. Bought vehicle used. Not sure if original factory glass is present. . . Name I believe is pinkerton or something like that. Anyway, safelight window doesn't do detach and re-attach work, as glass has broken in the past, so uncertain how to determine if this is a problem such as was for the 2014 & 2015 vehicles per the old or expired polymer caulking. Nevertheless, sometimes while driving, sounds like windshield could come off or dislodge, but not always. Didn't happen when we first bought vehicle this past summer. Bought vehicle last summer and noticed water on the floor after rains, with once or twice seeing a fine stream of water on driver side of window frame per water coming in. Can't keep floor dry. Also, in the summer/fall, per possible water in vehicle, noticed foggy window from within, when starting up and certainly now during the winter, per a frost like effect, till defrost is turned on. As for when this occurred, there is no specific date. Obtained vehicle in June of 2017, didn't notice water on floor till later in summer, didn't hear or notice windshield wind sounds till January of this year (2018). January 15 2018 date is arbitrary and not exact as this has been developing over time.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2017

Recurring evaporative emissions leak detected (very small). Vehicle has been taken back to Chrysler multiple times and check engine light comes back on. Code is p0456.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Rear ac evaporator ended up having a leak, needed to be replaced like many other Chrysler Town & Countrys and Dodge caravans of these years. Apparently, it's pretty common for these to have damage through normal use of the vehicle, considering the rear evaporator is directly behind the rear passenger wheel well. There isn't any form of protection for this part of the system, making it fragile, and normal driving will kick up enough rocks, debris, and dirt to cause damage. Had mine fixed in August 2017 on a 2013 Town & Country, doesn't seem to be a recall. Not the cheapest repair in the world, at roughly $1,000, all due to poor design considerations.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

We bought this car with about 60,000 miles on it in 2016 and suddenly the blind spot monitoring system stopped working. It's sold as a safety feature but there is a flaw in the design that allows rain, snow, mud etc to get into the sensor and create malfunction. This feature alerts the driver when there is a vehicle in the blind spot, and the driver relys on this feature quite a bit because there are huge blind spots in due to the design of the car. When the sensor goes out, it costs 2000. 00 to fix and there is a chime and flashing lights every minute which is a huge distraction to the driver and it's very frustrating! as an owner of this vehicle, I've learned to rely on the blind spot monitoring system to assist my driving and keep me safe. This is a very common problem and has the potential to cause very serious injuries.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

The key fob stop working. One button at a time.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2017

The tipm is junk. I have taken 3 places to be checked and the fix is $1000 for a vehicle that has 37,400 miles on it. It started after the original 36,000 miles of course. It will randomly not start in the mornings or after it sits for 8 hours. It's awful. It's become a vehicle that you can't trust.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2016

Driving down a highway our van's snap ring broke and destroyed the transmission and disabled van on a busy highway. Transmission went out without warning. Could have been hit by another car.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2016

When I press the start power button, the car will start and then cut off immediately. This happens repeatedly and then sometimes not at all. Sometimes, I turn off all of the electronics in my vehicle and then try to start it to see if this helps. Seems to have no rhyme or reason why it just won't start. I have searched the internet and found many other people reporting this same problem with their vehicles from Chrysler all the way back to 2011.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

Blind spot monitoring system inoperable. After approx 45,000 miles the blind spot indicator no longer works. Dealer claims it is a common occurrence with the rear sensor behind the bumper and since it is not considered a "safety issue" because it can be turned off it will cost over $1000 to fix. Who can honestly say that a blind spot monitor and cross path detection is not a safety feature that I paid a lot of extra money to have in the first place. It is wrong to not have a recall and/or have this covered under warranty.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

Our car was parked in the driveway. We opened the side door then closed it. When the door closed the back window blew out.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2016

Steering wheel controls including the horn and possibly the steering wheel air bag are intermittent. >>so far on three separate occasions while stopped & driving all electrical parts of the steering wheel have just quit for a day or two and then for no reason begin working again. Unfortunately every time it goes dead and we arrange to take it in for service it starts working and the dealer says they can't do anything unless it is completely broken and not intermittent. Since Chrysler minivans have been recalled in the past for this "clock spring" problem, Chrysler should authorize replacement of this known safety defect (no horn or airbag intermittently with out warning) without being required to do so by the government. I guess I could authorize the dealer to replace the known intermittent clock spring at my own expense and then hope that sooner or latter the recall is expanded to include the 2013 model year. Or I can hope it quits long enough to be taken to the dealer with dead electrical parts on the steering wheel before my 36 month/36,000 mile warranty runs out this June . I attempted to turn the wheel while stopped and while driving to both get it working again when not working and also to get it go go dead again at the dealer when it was working but the intermittent problem does no seem to have any pattern of be effected by steering wheel movement. The third time it quite was Saturday night 9 Jan 2016 and began working on Monday 11 Jan 2016 on the way to the dealer.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2015

When returning to my parked van. The van would not start then notice that the van was reading that the shift gearing the reverse position, but the shift gear was in the park posit. The shift gear would not move out of the park position. Had to have the van towed. Was informed by the dealer is that the shift cable assembly needs to be replace. This vehicle is only 2 yr old, and has only 80000 on it miles. Was parked on a city street.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2015

When I was driving in reverse after making a u turn the brake lock up on me causing the car to roll. It was so dangerous I had absolutely no control of the car. There are worse cases, when im driving up a hill imagine that. . . . . . I just rolled down the hiil, I thought it was over.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2015

After almost a month at the dealer, replacing the wireless ignition module twice and the battery. . . Running all possible tests, today they believe the issue is related to the bad tipm. . . My van was not part of the recall for the tipm yet I have the same problem as everyone else. My van dies every 4 days and has been sitting at the dealer for almost a month, I was called 3 times to pick it up after being fixed and it was dead in their parking lot, and died an additional 4 more times in their possession. Like clock work, it dies every 4 days. Let's hope this time they really found it and if they did why was mine not part of this nation wide recall for this issue? car dies, won't start, no power every 4 days.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2015

Well this is my 5th complaint in the last two weeks. My vehicle has been in the dealership for the past two weeks, it has been towed, jumped and brought in several times. This is the 5th time in two weeks that my car has been in the dealer for the same exact issue with no fix. I was called this morning that it was "fixed" and ready for pickup. I arrived tonight, got my keys and the van is dead and won't start in the dealer parking lot. It was brought in this time (well actually never left) since last time dealer called saying it was fixed it was dead in the parking lot. . . Again. . Twice dead in their parking lot "ready for pickup" they have not found the problem but like clock work every 4 days it is dead. Here goes round 6, prepare for my next complain in 6 days since the previous 5 still have yet to be responded to.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2015

We received notice that the rear quarter vent window switch could overheat if exposed to liquid moisture. It could cause a burning odor, smoke, or a driver's door fire without warning. We were notified in January, 2015, and Chrysler has still not supplied the needed parts to the dealership.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

I just received the 2nd recall notice about the rear quarter vent window switch, which may lead to a driver's door fire. My local Chrysler dealer tells me the replacement part is not available. The part was not available when I called in October. How long does Chrysler have to replace a defective part?.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2014

Vehicle was parked in driveway, was in "park" gear and had been running for approximately 20 minutes. Vehicle was turned off and keys were removed from ignition when vehicle suddenly started to roll backwards. Reportedly, vehicle was restarted and braking was attempted but vehicle would not stop. Vehicle rolled into tree/fence and damaged passenger door, that had been left open in the haste of the incident, and the rear bumper. Damage estimates at 4k.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

In August of 2014 I received the recall notice #p25/NHTSA 14v-234 in reference to the defect of the rear quarter vent window switch. On 08/13/14 I took my vehicle in for the repair, I am still waiting on that repair. The dealer advise that there were no parts available to service my vehicle and stated they would contact me when parts are available; I am still waiting for that call… so the calling starts on 9/17/14, I called the service dept. They advise no parts. Same results on 10/17, 11/17, and 12/17/14. On 1/6/15 I receive a second notice on the recall so I called again on 1/9/15 and again the service department man says… no parts from Chrysler. I advised them I find it hard to believe that they issued this recall and after 5 months there are no parts to fix this switch. I get a song and dance routine and he advised he’ll call me when the parts come in. I think this is unacceptable and bad customer service from both the dealer and the manufacture if this is really the case. V/r, michael todd last 8 characters of VIN dr541337 notification code #p25.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

I took our van in for routine maintenance and was informed that there was a recall out for the rear quarter panel window motor. I later found out (they failed to tell me and after trying to open the window I read through the paperwork they gave me to find out that the switch had been unplugged) that they had unplugged the switch. This was on June 16, 2014 and now it is January 12, 2015 and the condition has still not been resolved. When I call, I am told that Chrysler has not provided the replacement switches. This time delay is not an acceptable correction of the problem and I still continue to receive recall notices from them about the problem. It appears that there is a lack of response to the issue and that their records are not complete in that they have already unplugged my switch but I continue to receive notices about the problem.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2014

Drivers village in new york sold me this vehicle without mentioning this recall and without disconnecting it to prevent a driver door fire. I received a letter in the mail about the recall soon after purchasing it. It was recalling the vehicle for the "rear quarter vent window switch" which could cause a fire in the driver-side door. This dealership is obviously looking for the deal with little to no interest in the safety of its customers. Please investigate this dealership to prevent them from potentially putting others in danger. Thank you for your time.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2014

There was occasionaly a odor of burning plastic.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2014

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2013

My 2013 Chrysler Town & Country has an exhaust leak. The exhaust fumes come into the cabin area of the vehicle when driving. Linwood motors in paducah, ky 42001 phone # 800-326-7604 have worked on the vehicle several times. The mechanics at linwood motors claim to have replaced the exhaust system twice, but it still leaks. On July 14, 2014 found exhaust leaking into a/c vents & blowing into cab. Tech replaced entire exhaust system. Test drove with carbon dioxide monitor from walmart, which will only detect at 30 ppm's or higher. If the monitor had indicated that there was carbon monoxide in the cab; a person could only be exposed to his level for one hour before needing to be removed to fresh air! when the vehicle was returned to us, it still was leaking exhaust fumes into the cab. We made an appointment to put the vehicle back into the shop at linwood motors on September 8, 2014 at 2 pm. When my wife and I arrived at linwood motors rick kupper and kevin jones refused to put the 2013 Chrysler t&c into the maintenance shop because they had expended all the resources the company would allow. After the 2013 Chrysler t&c has set in my yard for 16 months Chrysler has finally agreed to settle and buyback the vehicle. My new concern is that Chrysler will put the vehicle back on the market and sale it without fixing the 2013 Chrysler t&c. My wife had a stroke on June 20, 2014 and our doctors advised us to quit driving the 2013 Chrysler t&c; because my wife's doctor believes the exhaust leak contributed to her stroke. I had to purchase another vehicle to drive and lost interest on my money that I had to use from savings. Chrysler has made a belier out of me!!! I will never own another Chrysler vehicle again as long I live. Thanks Chrysler corporation for your torture. End of report.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2013

On the way home from purchasing the vehicle I stopped to walk the dogs. I turned off the ignition and walked over to the passenger side. I opened the door with the door handle. The door was about 3/4 open when I reached in to get the dog's leashes. Even though the door hadn't completely opened it suddenly started closing rapidly. I was able to get my head out but not my arm. The door closed on my arm and trapped me. In order to stop the closing door I grabbed the door and pulled on the door with my left hand and it stopped. If I had not reacted this way the door would have crushed my arm. I then had to reach over with my left hand and use the door handle to open the door and free myself. I have a couple of scrapes on my arm, it is slightly swollen and sore but luckily it didn't break. If I hadn't seen the door start to close it could have trapped my head. If my dogs would have been in the doorway they would have been killed. This vehicle is supposed to have a safety stop if anything is in the doorway.
