While driving at highway speed, 65mph, the 2013 town and country shut down. The dash instruments and all internal lighting shut off, the radio shut off and the blower fan for heat shut off. I lost the ability to steer and brake (power steering went out) but managed to maneuver the vehicle to the right lane. The car would not respond to any acceleration attempt. I tried turning the key while coasting down the highway, the vehicle did not restart. I then put the vehicle into neutral and tried turning the key and it did not restart. I then turned the key to the off position and then tried to restart and it successfully started. My dash instruments illuminated, the radio and heat blower came back on and I was able to regain control of the vehicle.
Transmission codes but not having transmission issues even verified by shop and couldn't find issue. Then out of no where transmission revved hard on its own causing it to almost red line.
The van will randomly shut off while driving. It may happen out of the blue while on the highway, hitting a bump, or even driving at slow speeds. The instrument panel remains on, I can put the van in neutral while still moving and restart the van. Sometimes it happens multiple times a week, sometimes it happens only a few months. There are no check engine light on or anything else.

My back driver side sliding door stopped working and I had to remove my grandchild from the window because the car was loaded and packed for a trip. Then about 5 months after the door stopped my passenger and driverside windows would roll down and immediately back up and then down and not close. This caused extreme cold for passengers in the vehicle since we were driving in bad weather and could not stop to try to get them rolled up. Having only 1 back door that works makes it completely impossible to load and unload my family and it bothers me if there were an emergency and had to exit vehicle I wouldn't be able to get all my grandkids out in a timely manner. When I pull up to a construction zone and have to stop I have to open my door to hear to talk to them which caused them to tell me to stay in vehicle and they get scared for my safety with my door open. I cannot communicate with drive up tellers and it is impossible to order from a drive thru when I have to open door or if I get pulled over by a cop and he tells me to roll window down I have to open door and he takes secure measures thinking I am going to do something bad when I have to talk to him with door open cause windows don't work. Then about 3 months ago the same noise and situation started happening with the back 2nd row windows and therefore I have not been able to use any windows in my van because I am scared they will remain open and my vehicle will be a target for theft or vandalism.
Purchased 2013 Chrysler town and country in July of 2020 and it had a clean record, was a former carmax vehicle and my independent mechanic reviewed the vehicle and deemed it a good purchase. I have since cared for the vehicle and it has run well until recently several error codes came up. P0300, p0456, p0455, p0175. I took it to my mechanic and they said this could be a vehicle manufacturer issue. The codes say something about evp leak, misfire and system running too rich. This should be investigated to ensure a recall isn't necessary. Repairs are well over $1000 and not due to any pre existing issues.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving 20 to 30 mph, the vehicle downshifted and stalled without warning. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to depress the brake pedal while attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off and restarted and operated normally. Northtown Chrysler Jeep Dodge fiat (2020 niagara falls blvd, tonawanda, NY 14150, (716) 616-3299 was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle had not been diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 886.
While driving, we heard a loud noise like rattling coming from the engine area. I thought it was a bad a/c clutch so I turned off the a/c but the sound continued only not as loud. When I turned the a/c unit on. . . The sound became louder so I turned off the a/c to arrive at destination. I later took my vehicle to the dealership who said the flexplate had to be replaced. A week later I received a second call that the tipm had to be replaced as well. Upon research, I have found numerouse complaints online from other owners of this vehicle type spanning the years 2012-2014 with a high number of problems with the same two parts. I do believe these parts are dangerous and faulty or an investigation leading to the cause should be done. I consider myself lucky that my vehicle did not shut off on a highway or dangerous condition as I have heard these type vehicles doing that to others in their testimonials. I will receive the repair receipt documentation from the dealership to prove the parts replacement to verify my testimonial.
Car stalled out while driving and just stopped. Had to replace the transmission.
Power train stopped working in the middle of a public street while in motion, had to replace transmission.
Car continue to turn off. Engine and electric problem as well. Took it to numerous auto repair shops and waisted a lot of money. Nothing got fixed said it's a manufacturing problem, mechanics try to fix but failed to do to it's a manufacturing problem. Recall these vans!!! kids are in these van's and they just cutt off in the middle of the highway and I've changed out everything, nothing works! shuts off randomly in the streets and highways! big safety hassard!! recall them all! my cousin has a Dodge one and it does the exact samething.
The van randomly shuts down while driving this makes it hard to steer and could cause an accident because of the power loss and steering. The van must be shifted into neutral or park to restart. This can be very difficult especially on the highway. Sometimes it smells like an electrical fire. It has been looked at by several mechanics with nothing found.

The flywheel has broken and this appears to be a very common problem that many have had to repair. There seems to be a misalignment issue or a weakness in the material used to manufacture the flywheel. The van started with a sound similar to the vibration of a loose heat shield. Then came the vibration and shaking at idol, similar to an engine miss on one of the cylinders. No of those were the problem. Then, the van was in motion and all of a sudden it wouldn't go while pressing the accelerator. Pulled the van to the side. Shut down the engine and tried to restart. The starter now spins freely with no resistance. This should have become a recall a few years ago and corrected before this model was ever manufactured.
Driving vehicle on suburban streets I noticed that the vehicle would hesitate at take off and then slam into gear. This happened at every stop. Then while driving the engine would rebound but the transmission wouldn't engage. Pulled over and turned off engine, restarted and drove but again slammed into gear. Managed to make it to a parking lot and pulled in. Had vehicle towed home. Later had vehicle towed to dealer"checked and found vehicle won't move and transmiss ion pump is whinning, fluid is burnt, checked dtc' s p0944 loss of prime, p0731 gear ratio error in 1 st, p0846 2-4 or 2c pressure switch rationality, r transmission has hard internal failure, recommend replacing transmission" . Vehicle has 41000 miles on it. 4700 dollars to replace faulty transmission.
Transmission went out due to failure of hydraulic pump with no prior issues. Well maintained 90,000 miles. Happened while turning left 10-15mph on city street.
I have already replaced the oil filter adapter housing as many have complained about, but I am still having an oil leak just a few months later. Now when I drive sometimes the accelerator goes out so I just cruise until it comes back on. It happens at highway speeds and in town driving.

Was driving along a highway and heard a whine. It got worse as I got closer to home. Rpms suddenly increased greatly. Took it to Chrysler dealer where I purchased the vehicle new. After checking it over, it was determined that transmission needed replacing at 60500 miles. 4 months past warranty expiration. When talking with several mechanics and transmission businesses, heard this is common for this transmission (6 speed). Said the supplier for the bearings, used junk, as this has caused the problems. Chrysler must be aware of this.

At multiple times when putting my van into drive it makes a hard clunk and has been making a "chirping" sound. Took it to dealer that I just baught it from. And they claim nothing is wrong and could not duplicate my complaints. Also has a very strong burning platinum oder when driving.
On three different occasions, the engine has shut off while driving. As high as 45 mph. I have full dash functionality the only way I know the car has stalled is the speedometer is going down as I try to accelerate. I also lose all power steering and braking. Thus far, I have been lucky enough to be able to get the car into parking lots to put it in park and restart the car. Took the car in for repair after receiving error code p0018 cranksharft. Camshaft position correlation bank 2 sensor. Was told the car was repaired, two weeks later, the engine shut off again with the same error code.
Was stop for red and the vehicle suddenly jerked, scared me then started drifting backward tap the vehicle behind me but there was no damage to it.
Vehicle was parked in driveway, was in "park" gear and had been running for approximately 20 minutes. Vehicle was turned off and keys were removed from ignition when vehicle suddenly started to roll backwards. Reportedly, vehicle was restarted and braking was attempted but vehicle would not stop. Vehicle rolled into tree/fence and damaged passenger door, that had been left open in the haste of the incident, and the rear bumper. Damage estimates at 4k.
This is a new vehicle. Right around 6100 miles, I started hearing irritating noise at speeds around 30-40 mph. The dealership is not able to resolve the issue and Chrysler seems to have no solution as well. They basically say it is driveable so I have to live with it. This noise is persistent and louder than when we first noticed it (8200 miles now). No repair, no replacement, nothing but a continual noise.
