2015 Chrysler town and country lost propulsion power while driving, endangering 2 occupants and surrounding drivers. While driving on a residential road, vehicle came to a stop at intersection. Upon attempting to accelerate from stop and applying gas, vehicle jolted and would not accelerate past 5 miles an hour with transmission engaging and disengaging while shifter was in drive. Vehicle's transmission would intermittently engage and disengage for 1/2 mile with no warning lights or error messages. Vehicle idled as normal, but vehicle would not engage transmission properly when shifter set to "drive" position. Vehicle was then parked in driveway off of the road.
Driver side active headrest deployed while driving the vehicle causing safety concern and head/neck injury and pain.
When coming to a stop the van will jerk, and when taking off it acts like it does not want to catch the gear, now we are expirancing no take off, it will not go past 20 miles, and when we try the engine will rev up and will not pick up speed.
Passenger front head rest exploded/ejected while pulling into driveway.
In approximately 10 separate instances starting around December 12th when I was driving my 2015 town and Chrysler Mini van, it would lose power and shut off randomly. I would attempt to steer the car to the side or middle of the road (I lost the ability to turn the wheel), shut the car off and turn it back on and the car would start up again no problem. I took the car to the dealership three times for this issue and they were not able to find an issue any of the times I brought it in. It happened once when my daughter was in the car. I was concerned from my safety because I could have been rear ended. I avoid highway driving because of this issue.
The driver's side, sliding door will not open manually or (using automatic) from inside of vehicle or outside of vehicle, or with the remote key. Door is stuck closed like it's jammed. I am very careful with my doors, and tell everyone not to slam them hard. I don't trust this doors safety.
Driver side rear sliding door lock doesn't work. The door makes a loud buzzing noise and does not unlock. The door can be unlocked manually with force. There is already a manufacturer recall for this exact same condition and part, but doesn't cover my car. My car was built 72 days prior to the start of the covered equipment, but is showing the exact same issues as those covered.
Front passenger headrest exploded without being in an accident. Serious injury could have occurred.
I do not have a siriusxm subscription, they sent an unsolicited offer for a 3 month trial and activated satellite system on radio, model 430n, in vehicle. This happened sometime after March 4, 2024. I did not listen to siriusxm on vehicle until sometime mid April. I noticed changes in the way some safety related systems worked and finally realized they started with the trial activation. What changed: the is no audible warning sound, just silence when the following are turned on our activated; turn signals when blinking, blind spot is activated when changing lanes and a vehicle is in blind spot, rear cross traffic warning when traffic present, rear parking collision warning when obstacle is present. Vehicle had audible warning sounds for all of this until satellite radio trial was activated. Why is a radio company able to disable required safety systems on a vehicle?.
Back up camera and dash display quit working. Had near miss when backing up vehicle and almost ran over someone.
The sliding door on the passenger side has issues with the door lock actuator. It buzzes when unlocking and locking.
The passenger side sliding door has started intermittently not closing/latching completely whether closed manually or using automatic closure. The door will close but report as open either immediately or sometimes randomly while driving down the road. I know because the door ajar sign is lit, it makes a door open noise, and the overhead lights will even turn on. This could last seconds or minutes. I have had success closing the door manually multiple times, but I can't stop every 5 minutes on a longer trip. You can hear the motor continuously trying to close but will not latch. I have not been able to replicate for dealer, but searching online demonstrates other users are having this complaint. This also seems to happen more during warmer weather. I worry that a failure of the door latching mechanism could cause safety features to not perform correctly during a collision.
When I unlock my van or open my door and it unlocks a loud buzzing noise comes from my passenger back sliding door, it happens every time, not occasionally. I have already been on a message board online where hundreds of van owners are reporting the exact same thing. Wheres the recall.
Front passenger headrest deployed while driving 15 mph on smooth side street. No impact whatsoever.
This is an addendum to complaint # 11361493. The actual date was the previous date, 09/25/2020. No other restraints or air bags deployed, only the front passenger head restraint. There were two people in the car, the driver and front passenger. The passenger was wacked by the head restraint but did not receive any injury. The local Chrysler dealer stated to replace the head restraint would cost $680. This is the status to date 10//09/2020.
While moving the front passenger seat backward, the active head restraint on the front passenger side set off. While looking inside the headrest, broken plastic was observed. The vehicle was stationary (in park and turned off) at the time of incident.
Rear evaporator core corroded and leaked. Needed replacement as the ac was no longer working. 69,000 miles. Both the repair shop (midas) and an auto dealer confirmed that this is a common problem - and both independently commented on bad design - that the core is directly exposed to road salt and undercarriage moisture, fostering corrosion. Repair cost was $849. 72.
The headrest on the passenger side of the vehicle spontaneously deployed without warning while I was driving one day. There was no accident, sudden stop, or anything of the sort. It simply occurred while driving. Thank god no one was riding in the passenger seat at the time. After it happened, my husband and I looked up this issue online and discovered hundreds of folks that stated the exact same thing happened to them in their Chrysler vehicles. This headrest is supposed to be a safety feature (which we knew nothing about), but it seems to be the exact opposite. The plastic holding the pin in place simply broke. There is no way to push the headrest back together, so now it is sitting deployed causing the passenger's head to be pushed forward.
My car was towed to the dealership on July 7, 2020 because it would not start or respond to anything. I was told the battery needed to be replaced and was called to pick the car up on July 10, 2020. When getting in the vehicle, I needed to adjust my head rest. I couldn't get it to where I could be comfortable and reclined the seat to keep my neck from bumping the head rest. After 2 weeks of this, I was putting stuff on the floor behind the seat, looked up and saw that the head rest was popped out. I tried to put it back and it would not budge. After researching this online, I found a lot of reported instances of this type of head rest deploying when the car was parked or while idle. There are youtube videos showing how to reset the head rest. When I took it to the dealership, they said my head rest was broken and would require removing the seat to replace it with a new one for over $900. The passenger side has the same type of head rest. It could deploy at any time. I don't feel safe driving this car. The dealership left a voice message saying my warranty has expired and that I am responsible for getting it fixed. I bought this vehicle used with under 16,000 miles on it. It now has under 41,000 miles on it. It passed inspection. At no time was I informed of a problem with these head rests, but there is a lot of detailed information about these head rests malfunctioning. They are on many chrsyler, Dodge and Jeep models between 2011 to 2018 give or take a year. My car was fine when I last drove it, but it was not fine when I picked it up. There is no indication of what triggered this. Only one of the two front head rest deployed. I believe a safety recall could save lives and serious injuries from happening. I believe the manufacturer has known about this defect for quite some time and failed to inform the consumers who own vehicles with these specific head rests.
When driving on the freeway in heavy traffic my headrest deployed and hit my head with such a force that my glasses fell down to the floor of the van. My eyesight is pretty bad and I had to continue driving on the freeway until the next exit with limited vision because I was unable to pick up the glasses from the floor while driving on the freeway. This was an extremely dangerous situation.
I have my car for 2 years , it drive fine and yet I have an engine light on all the time, transmission is very good and so is the engine, my car was checked several time by mechanic and no problem has been detected . Yet the engine light is still on cannot pass inspection.
I have started having problems with the drivers side heat not wanting to warm up while the passenger side still gets hot. After a while of letting the heat run on defrost you can turn the heat to the vents and the drivers side will be luke warm while the passenger is still hot.
My transmission. Do not buy from safford dealership in warrenton va!!!! or Chrysler or do not buy the warranty, it is a rip off. They charge you and than don't honor it!! they tell many lies to get out of paying for the repairs and to get out of the warranty have already paid for. I have bought many cars and would never recommend Chrysler!! look at all the other reviews before buying.
Driving down the road and the drivers head rest separated. Is still hinged at bottom but remains separated. Cannot be pushed back together.
Drivers side headrest deployed while driving at 50 mph on highway 64 in florida strikeing me in the back of the head. It hit me very hard and caused great confusion until I figured out what happened.
I reported issues with my transmission when the vehicle had 19212 miles on it. The problem reported has been hard shifting and hard down shift at stops. Problems occur in city driving conditions. Recently, now at 49100 miles, 2nd gear isn't kicking in. Dangerous in heavy traffic when rush hour traffic has the tendency to come to a stop and then go but if the vehicle doesn't shift to second gear. I need to pull over and shut the vehicle down and turn it back on and hope it will temporary fix. The service department at my dealership said I needed and oil change (recommended is 60k for transmission). I went ahead and paid for this service but the problem still exist in 2nd gear not shifting in. The dealer service advisor said my vehicle needs to re-learn my driving conditions. I'm weary about the advisors explanation and will find that at 60k powertrain warranty expiration. The service department will diagnose the problem at my cost. As it has occurred with my window motor/regulator. I reported a distinct noise when operating the windows at the same mileage noted above. No problems found. Today my vehicle is in the shop for the same problem but it's out of warranty and I will be receiving a call with the cost to repair it.
First reported my transmission concern at 19212 miles with the dealership service department. Hard shifting and slipped downshift at stops. At 49100 miles the 2nd gear isn't shifting in and requires for me to stop, pull over and start the vehicle again. The service advisor recommended a transmission oil change. But I continue to have a shifting problem and the advisor claims my vehicle needs to re-learn my driving habits. It concerns me to have this as an explanation when there is only 1 yerra/60k left on my powertrain warranty. In addition with 19212 miles I reported my drivers side window making an unusual noise. Dealership service department said no problems existed. At 49100 miles my drivers side window is completely unserviceable and now I'm told I will get a call with repair cost.
Automatic sliding door engaged and trapped arm of child requiring 2 adults to forcefully open. Child trapped for more than 1 minute.
The locks on 3 of the doors quit working. The right side sliding door was stuck on unlock, not able to lock the door. The left sliding door is stuck on lock, cannot open the door. The front passenger door, needs to be unlocked 3 times before it releases.
Vehicle is only 3 years old and started making a constant clicking noise that would speed up with the speed of the car in addition to that the rpm shoots up butvehicle struggles to speed up, took it in to get looked at, the engine and transmission are going out and is going to cost more to fix than the car is worth. Also the air bag in the passenger head rest exploded earlier in the year while the vehicle was moving and was not in an accident, and the back passenger door will mechanically open but not shut. This vehicle has had an excessive amount of problems for only being 3 years old.
While driving on highway (approx 70 mph), right front michelin defender tire sidewall blew out destroying tires and almost causing crash, but pushing car into ditch on side of road. These tires were a year and a half old and had approximately 30,000 miles on them.
I purchased subject vehicle from car max in Sep/oct 2018 and was told there was a recall on the windshield due to defect glue being used for installation. I brought the vehicle to premier Chrysler dealership in new orleans, al who kept the vehicle for a month without making the repair saying that a needed part was on backorder. I made a complaint with Chrysler corporation about two months ago as the dealership still has not contacted me to return the vehicle for the repair. They too indicated that the installation kit is on back order. It is nearly 6 months with no word, followup anything from the dealership. All this waiting on an installation kit. Their are windshield repair places that can repair a windshield in a matter of minutes why can't the dealership?.
Blind spot detection sensor issues. Dashboard error message states "service blind spot system". The issue is the blind spot warning signal constantly comes on with chime although their are no vehicles around the van. Issue occurs when stationary, in motion no matter where driveway, city street or highway.
Engine hesitates and transmission jerks upon accelerating and at times during normal highway and /or stop and go traffic. Complained to dealership where car was purchased twice (locates on route 60 brandon FL) and response was no issues encountered. Mind you manufacturer warranty is about to expire.
Noise coming from engine every time I go over 55 speed, also noise from windshield as if there is air coming into the car. Noise from speakers as the car speeds.
