Failure Date: 05/15/2020

Hello, I purchase my 2016 town and county as a brand new vehicle. I had hopes that this would be the last family vehicle that I would purchase to transport my busy family. However, the time that I have used this Mini van has been a series of problems. The main one is the reoccurring problems with the plastic exterior parts to this vehicle constantly coming off. The b pillar applique, left - mopar (5020665ad) and right b pillar applique, right - mopar (5020664ad) are the two parts that I am replacing constantly. The last incident was both parts came off on a busy highway and almost hit another vehicle. These plastic parts are unsafe and a hazard. They are not designed to stay on the vehicle. I took my vehicle in to the dealership and the quote was over 300 dollars to replace. This is an example of how cheap and poorly designed this vehicle is. I am not a happy 2016 town and country owner. I want the manufacturer/ mopar to do something about this before someone gets hurt!.

41 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2019

The drivers side sliding passenger door suddenly is stuck in the lock shut position. There is no way of opening the door manually or with the key fab remote. The other sliding door also produces a loud sound when it locks and unlocks. I took it in the get fixed, the shop says that the actuator in both doors was broken and needed to be replaced. Online I also found a lot of other town and country owners having this same issue. This could be a big safety hazard if ever someone needed to be evacuated from the vehicle and the door is stuck shut.

42 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The driver side passenger door will not unlock/open. It limits my ability to get to my child quickly in the event of an emergency, on side of road, etc.

43 Body problem

The driver side sliding door stopped working from one day to the next. I used the door on Sunday, October 20th and went to use it the following morning and it would not open via the keyfob or the overhead button. When I tried to manually open the door, it would not budge. The lock mechanism will not move. I did some research online and it looks like an ongoing issue with these vehicles but it presents a safety issue if the vehicle gets in an accident, it could impede passengers exiting the vehicle and sustaining further injury.

44 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

The passenger side sliding door emits a loud buzzing sound when the vehicle is unlocked. The volume is loud enough that it causes audio discomfort. Research indicated that there have been many complaints about this issue in the 2016 Dodge and Chrysler minivans, and several individuals had reported it to this site so we are following that suggestion.

50 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

Both rear power door locks failed. The passenger side power lock failed to function about 6 months ago, but could be operated manually, and the door could be opened and closed safely. On the morning of August 5, 2019 we attempted to open the driver side rear door to load items for departure. The lock was jammed in lock position, and could not be opened manually. The door was jammed closed and totally inoperable. The door had been fully functional the previous day. The discovery was made while the vehicle was parked in our garage. We had to wait 3 days for a service appointment at our local dealer. They had the vehicle for 2-1/2 days before completing repairs. Both lock actuators were replaced. The inability to open the side door created a hazardous situation.

51 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2019

Slider door on the driver side stuck in locked position. Will not open. Lock has spongy feel to it and will not unlock manually or electronically. This poses a safety issue due to the passenger on not able to quickly exit the vehicle in case of emergency. Also, the slider door on the passenger side seems to malfunction frequently-opening and closing multiple times with nothing stuck in the track and nothing blocking the sensor. It is likely a matter of time before the door becomes completely non-functional like the driver side slider door.

52 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Driver side sliding door cannot be opened either remotely or manually, something is non-functional inside the door. In order to exit the vehicle, people must climb over to the front seat or across the vehicle to the passenger side sliding door. If this were to happen on the passenger side, the only way out is through the front doors. This must be a design issue as the vehicle has not been in any accident--people in the rear seats are at risk if they need to exit quickly. Previously told by a mechanic shop, this was an actuator problem. Chrysler has now extended the warranty on the actuator, but now they say it is a latch issue not covered by the extended warranty, and want $1100 to repair it. Latch, actuator, or whatever reason, no vehicle door should ever get into this type of mode. I have now spent $320 on two different analyses over the past 2-1/2 years. I will not pay $1100 for something that Chrysler should be responsible for.

53 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

The automatic sliding door no longer locks. It has been traced back at an small hydraulic pin that pushes the lock open and closed. To fix this part it has been quoted between $800-$1000. Due to the fact, they have to remove the door completely, then break the panel and the trim from the inside to reach the parts. Now we are being charged to replace the panel and the existing trim. Have looked into this and others are experiencing same / similar issues. All other doors lock, but when locked the sliding door can be opened by anyone.

54 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2019

This vehicle will not allow for the rear doors to open manually when the electronic system fails. This poses a significant safety risk for entry and exit of the vehicle when the "actuator/motor, electric door lock" fails on the sliding doors. On 6/15/2019 the second incident occurred with the vehicle.

55 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

The lock actuator for the passenger side rear door stopped functioning properly. The door lock stuck in the locked position and the door could not be opened. A body shop got the actuator unstuck, but within a few days it was stuck again, this time in the unlocked position. I started researching the problem online and found a way to get the lock unstuck and I used that trick when it stuck in the locked position, but over time the actuator has also started buzzing. Now when the power door locks are activated, instead of locking or unlocking the actuator on this door just buzzes loudly and the lock mechanism doesn't move. It's been buzzing for months now, so I decided to do some more research and see if it was an issue I felt comfortable fixing myself. Once I started looking, I found several forums were a lot of people were having this same issue, and it was recommended that everyone report this issue to possibly create a recall if the failure rate of the actuator is high enough. I also found that the part that needs replaced is inexpensive, it's less than $50. However, due to the degree of difficulty in accessing the part, the entire door panel has to be taken apart to access it, the average repair quote for this repair is in the $700-$800 range. This seems like a really poor design choice for a part that seems to have such a high failure rate. If you need any additional information or a short video of the buzz, since a picture will not really show the issue please let me know. Thank you!.

56 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2019

Sliding door on the passenger side of the vehicle will not open. Tried manually from interior and exterior, buttons on inside and key fob. Clicking can be heard when using the key fob, but mechanism will not unlock. Could not get my dog out of his crate without going to driver's side of the van, folding down seat into the floor and having someone help me pull the crate around so it's door could be opened. Van was parked.

58 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2019

Driver's side sliding door will not unlock or open either with the remote, push button or manually. If an accident disabled the passenger sliding door, occupants in the rear would be trapped inside.

59 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2019

Sliding door on drivers side failed to open with keyless entry or manually opening. This is a huge safety concern. We were able to eventually open the door, but now the door actuator buzzes loudly when locking/unlocking. Door will intermittently not open with keyless entry or manually.

63 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Driver's side, power sliding door, will not open. This is a safety hazard. In an emergency or accident, only the other sliding door will open or if blocked, all will be trapped and unable to exit the vehicle. Vehicle is only 2. 5 years old and 49k miles. Dealership and other repair business say no warranty coverage. Price to fix is either $1,371 or $1,495. I'm seeing lots of other owners complaining about this safety issue and being charged this gross amount of money. Lives are at risk. Please make this a recall issue as passengers risk becoming trapped and unable to exit.

64 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

I was driving to the post office and as I was getting close, the vehicle suddenly veered to the right, going up on the curb and sidewalk, barely missed a telephone pole, crashing into a utility box. Vehicle was totaled, no injuries received, air bags did not deploy. Travel speed was at posted limit of 35. When my son got there he said that it looked as if the 2 tires on the right had malfunctioned and gone flat, almost as if they had run over sharp objects, causing the van to suddenly veer right.

65 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2018

Both sliding doors would not open. They found that the left side actuator was jammed and the right side was grinding. The doors would not open at all - not even manually. This was a huge safety issue. No one could get out of the van without climbing onto the front or out the back hatch.
