36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2021

Second time in two years the blind spot monitor module and wire connection has corroded and destroyed the module, terminals and connectors. It happened driving down the highway the warning bell and message came on saying it is nor working. When ever I drive the vehicle the same thing happens had a 2011 town and country and the same thing happened with it. They want over a $1000 to fix it each time.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2021

Back sliding door inoperable, dealership sold the vehicle this way, neglected to disclose the issue. When we noticed we refused the sale, dealership added to the sale contract that it would be fixed before delivery, vehicle was not fixed before delivery after several attempts, and a third party off site company attempted to fix the issue. Dealership had the vehicle for 36 days before coming to a temporary fix, door still has issues opening and closing. Sometimes won’t open at all or just close instantly after opening pinching/crushing anyone who isn’t fast enough to get out of the way in the door. Door has also come completely off the track at one point. The door will not stop if it starts to close, it will slide closed into you or a child, the censors do not work as designed apparently. I sincerely hope for a fix as I am terrified of my children being trapped in emergency situation, or in general entry exit of vehicle.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2021

The passenger sliding door actuator makes a loud buzzing sound when the doors are locked/unlocked with a key or the door lock. Multiple forums have stated that they are having the same issue in the town and country and Dodge caravans.

39 Electrical System problem

Driver side sliding door is locked shut and won't open.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2021

My right side sliding door buzzes when I unlock my doors. Sometimes the door does not unlock and I am worried something might happen and we will not be able to get the kids out of the van.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2020

On December 24, 2020 our right passenger side rear door malfunctioned and ended up trapping my toddlers head in between the door and vehicle frame. It was incredibly traumatic for all involved. Though the incident likely lasted less than a minute, it was a terrifying frantic minute in which I tried everything to get the door open as it continued to try and close on our baby who was screaming in pain and terror. It took all of my strength to manually pry open the door to release his head. We brought the vehicle to our local dealership to be looked over, assuming a malfunctioning sensor of some sort. They did diagnostics and reported no codes were evident and they could not replicate the malfunction. Then last night 12/30/2020 the left rear passenger door experienced a similar malfunction and began closing on my child. My husband was forced to manually rip the door off of our child to avoid similar injury. In the process, plastic pieces of the track were dislodged and the door is no longer operational. In this instance, loss of electrical functioning on that side is a blessing as the doors are malfunctioning and otherwise present significant danger to our family as no obvious code defects have been able to be detected yet. However the right rear door and the back hatch remain operational and therefore a potential danger. Both times the vehicle was stationary.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2020

My passenger side slide door makes a buzzing sound when the drivers side door opens. I have researched this issue and it seems to be a common issue with these vehicles and appears to need a recall to fix this faulty part.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

The lock actuator gear strips, causing a loud buzzing noise when locking/unlocking the vehicle and in some cases it will not consistently actuate causing the door to stay locked. The major concerns are 1) if there is an emergency situation and someone is unable to unlock the door to quickly get my child out of the vehicle because the lock is not functional. 2) the noise it makes is loud and may startle drivers of this vehicle(from what I'm seeing, this is a common issue across the town and country and caravan lines of vans) as the locks automatically engage while entering the road which could cause a temporary loss of control of the vehicle. This endangers both the driver of the vehicle and other people on the road.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Loud buzz noise when rear passenger side door unlocks. Also closes on own sometimes.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

My rear passenger door would not open, or unlock. I took it to our Chrysler dealership for repair. They had to replace the door lock actuator part #68030378ag. I heard a weird buzzing coming from the rear passenger door upon entering the vehicle, when I unlocked it. When I started my engine and put it into drive. It made the same sound. When I arrived at my home. I tried to pen the rear passenger door and it would not unlock with my remote or manually.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2020

We we're driving home from bishop on the highway at night, when all of a sudden the van wouldn't shift to 3 gear. It wouldn't go past 40 miles per hour. Every time we tried to accelerate the rpm's would go past the red section (about section 8 or 9). It was driving fine around 65 miles per hour prior, when all of a sudden it wouldn't continue accelerating at that speed anymore. We pulled over trying to switch gears to see if it would go back to normal, but that didn't work and we also tried turning off the car and nothing worked. We pulled up at a gas station for more gas. When we turned the car back on and put it into driving gear it jolted for a second right before and after taking it out of the driving gear. We had to drive on the highway at 40 miles per hour with the emergency lights on so we wouldn't get hit from behind from coming and un coming traffic since it was pitch dark at night. Also, the left back passenger door right behind the driver seat was no longer working earlier. It won't open neither with the clicker, or by hand (inside or the outside) or by the inside automatic buttons for the door. It just doesn't unlock any more.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

The driver side rear sliding door is stuck and will not open. The door suddenly just stopped working and the lock is stuck in the middle position. The door can not be opened by the button on the door, key fob, or the button on the front visor. The van only has 30,000 miles on it.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2020

Tl the contact owns a Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side sliding door emitted an abnormal buzzing sound. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2020

Driver side sliding door stopped opening, stuck in lock position. I removed the plastic door panel and discovered that the rod from the lock switch was stuck, but I only had to wiggle it a bit from where it terminates (shown by the yellow arrow on the upper left of the image) to free it. Put the panel back in position, but now the door "buzzes" loudly for half a second everytime the car is locked or soon after driving (locks automatically soon after beginning a drive).

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2020

Our 2016 Chrysler town and country has wothin the last 3 weeks started making a loud buzzing noise coming from both driver side and passenger side sliding doors when the van starts moving. Recently this week the passenger side sliding door has completely stopped working it can't even be opened manually. The door can't be opened from the inside either.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2020

The passenger side sliding door will not lock and when the van is opened it buzzes in the drivers side sliding door. Both issues were discovered when the van is staionary. The first issue was discovered about 2 months ago and the second issue was discovered on 8-16-20. This is a major concern with kids being in the vehicle, and not knowing if the doors might become locked trapping the kids riding in car seats we cant get to.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

Driver side sliding door makes a loud buzzing sound while locking or unlocking the vehicle. I was told by the dealership that this is a common problem for this vehicle and an expensive repair (around $650). Eventually the lock will not function at all and you won't be able to lock or unlock the door. This is a life safety issue that should be addressed by Chrysler.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

Passenger-side sliding door lock does not work correctly and sometimes gets stuck. It makes a loud buzzing noise when trying to lock and unlock. This is a known issue with this vehicle but no recall has been issued.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2020

Every time I unlock or open my vehicle doors the car makes a large peep noise like their is a short in the electrical or maybe a fuse. It sounds like a loud buzzer noise like from a big x of a wrong answer on the show family feud! that's the only way I can explain the loud noise. The vehicle is always not running and in park when it make this noise! it happens after I unlock the vehicle and open any door even the sliding passenger doors.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2020

When ever the rear left sliding door locks or unlocks, there is a very loud buzzing sound.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2020

Sliding door actuators fail often on Town & Country vans. My family has owned three different model years in the past 10 years, and each one has had the sliding door actuators replaced. When they fail, they are either stuck to the open or closed position, so if open you cannot manually lock your car door, and if closed (locked) you cannot unlock it or open the door. This could be a safety concern if an accident occurred and the only door to get out was stuck in the locked position.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2020

When doors lock there is a loud buzzing type sound coming from the back door. I doesn't matter if the vehicle is moving and the doors auto lock, or if parked and the doors are manually locked. Couldn't attach a sound video.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

The auto door locks on the rear sliding doors jammed and stopped working. After manually unlocking the doors, they now both work, but the lock actuators on both sliding doors make a loud buzzing sound. The passenger side rear door does it when it unlocks, and the driver side rear door does it when it locks.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

Door actuators are defective and make buzzing noises. As actuators continue to fail, we fear operation of doors could also fail posing a serious safety problem! many people are reporting the same problem. Very expensive to fix. This is an electrical engineering defect. It should be resolved with new, non-defective actuators by Chrysler. For now, our Town & Country is stationary with engine on or off when buzzing sounds, but others have reported this problem when their Chrysler is in motion. If the doos were to open while traveling, it could be a disaster, and if the doors fail to open when needed, it could be deadly!.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2020

Sliding doors started buzzing, days later the door was in the locked position and would not open with my children inside after I had returned from the store. I had to role the window down to get them out. What if that happened during an emergency? faulty door actuators are a safety hazard. The correct action should be taken to fix this problem before something preventable happens.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2020

Need new actuator. . . . . Buzzing noise when wanting toopen side power doors.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

Rear drivers side and passengers side doors intermittently remain locked and will not open or unlock causing concern for the safety of the passengers inside. Also intermittently remains unlocked which could be another safety and security issue. Engine also stutters at low speeds. I have already had this repaired by a local dealership only to have the same problem a few weeks later.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2019

Rear passenger door makes loud buzzing noise when unlocking the doors.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2019

Passenger side sliding door makes buzzing noise when unlocking. Stationary or moving does not matter. Makes noise when pressing unlock on door panel, key fob, or when pulling on any door handle to open door that unlocks all doors.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2019

The passenger side rear sliding door makes a. Loud buzzing sound and the lock doesn't work.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

The driver side passenger door got stuck in the lock position and could not be opened or unlocked. Finally got the door open and now it makes a loud buzzing noise when locking or unlocking. Rear passenger door has not gotten stuck in the lock position but has recently started making the same loud buzzing noise when locking or unlocking. This could be a safety hazard if they door were to get stuck in the lock position during an accident.
