Component: Seat Belts:front:anchorage

Manufactured by: General Motors Corp.

Affected Units:: 1,016

icon3 Recall Summary:

Vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. Mislabeled seat belts intended for 2-door model vehicles were installed in the 4-door front passenger seat belt location. For the passenger seat safety belt, if the child seat mode has been engaged or the belt is extended during normal use and then retracted, the belt cannot be extended again and is unusable. The reset function to normal emergency mode does not work because the 2-door belt webbing is shorter.

icon2 How to Fix:

Dealers will inspect and replace incorrect seat belt assemblies. Owner notification began may 3, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020.
