If the connection comes loose while driving, the engine will stop running due to lack of fuel, increasing the risk of a crash. Also, if the connection comes loose while driving or attempting to start or restart the engine, some fuel will discharge from the fuel pump. If this should occur in the presence of an external ignition source, a fire could result.
