In this condition, the cables could eventually wear through the tank, causing a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

On certain motorcycles, the throttle cables come into contact with the tunnel portion of the fuel tank.

Dealers will inspect the cable and tank, reposition the cable and, if necessary, repair or replace the tank and/or cables free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2005. Owners may contact harley-davidson at 1-414-343-4056.
