If a spindle fractures while the vehicle is in motion, it may cause wheel separation, which could, without warning result in a vehicle crash.

On certain trucks equipped with arvinmeritor series 145 and 160 rear drive axles. Some of the spindles were overheated during the heat treat process which could result in a fracture of the spindle.

icon2 How to Fix:

Dealers will inspect the spindle for suspect heat codes and replace the axle if necessary. The recall began on November 15, 2005. Owners may contact mack trucks at 1-336-393-2233.
