Carrier is recalling 15 my 2008 new flyer ge41lrf transit buses built on new flyer chassis, equipped with avantac air conditioning and registered in the city of montebello, California. There is a failure of an internal component in the inverter that can potentially create an electric shock hazard if the following conditions exist: there is a failure of an internal component in the inverter; the shore power feature is engaged and the 460v shore power lead (land connection) has a compromised ground connection.

icon2 How to Fix:

Carrier notified the city of montebello verbally on February 6, 2008 and in writing on February 19, 2008. Carrier provided installation procedures and lock-out/tag-out devices on each shore power plug. The lock out device is a physical barrier to use of the shore power feature and eliminates the potential safety hazard. Carrier is in the process of developing a permanent remedy to address this potential safety hazard. The recall began March 20, 2009. Owners may contact carrier at 860-830-5948.
