Chrysler campaign no 137t. Compact light duty trucks. Possibility thatsteering column gear shift tube was not properly secured to the gear shifthousing due to omission of an assembly staking operation. If this conditionexists, tube is retained only by a set screw and may drop as the result of thescrew loosening in service. The downward movement of the tube alters therelationship of the transmission shift linkage and can result in transmissionbeing in gear position other than the selector indicates. (correct byinspecting and staking tube to gear shift lever housing. )
