On the involved vehicles, the cotter pin may have been omitted and the retaining nut improperly secured. Consequently, the steering linkage could detach from the pitman arm.

The dealer will tighten the attaching nut to specifications and install a cotter pin, without charge to owner.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. System: steering; steering assembly. Consequences of defect: loss of steering control could occur and result in lossof vehicle control and an accident.
