  NHTSA Recall 79V037000

NHTSA Campaign Id 79V037000; Date: Jan. 22, 1979

icon1 Recalled Vehicles:

1977 Trailmobile Trailmobile

Component: Service Brakes, Air:supply:hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings

Manufactured by: Pullman, Incorporated

Affected Units:: 700

icon3 Recall Summary:

The rear emergency glad hand was improperly connected directly to the rear air tank rather than to the emergency port of the task valve. Consequently, if the air supply to the lead trailer became disconnected, the emergency brakes would be applied but the rear trailer"s would not. A heavy brake application would cause the rear trailer to push the lead trailer forward, increasing the vehicle braking distance, and creating the potential for a jack knife.

icon2 How to Fix:

Dealer will inspect and, if necessary, modify the connections in the braking system, without charge to owner.

icon4 Recall Notes:

Vehicle description: semi-trailers. System: air brakes; emergency glad hand. Consequences of defect: increased braking distance may lead to a vehicleaccident and personal injury.
