The involved cycles were produced with a rear brake master cylinder push rod which has insufficient contact area with the rear brake master cylinder piston. This could result in the rod penetrating the piston during extremely high pedal effort.

Vehicle description: motorcycles. System: service brakes; hydraulic, master cylinder. Consequences of defect: loss of rear brake performance could lead to loss ofvehicle control and an accident. Note: although operator would still have full use of the front brake, vehicleshould not be operatwill install a redesigned, larger push rod and replace the master cylinderat no cost to owner.
