The pinch bolt holes in the lower steering c0lumn universal joint yoke were drilled off location of the center line, thus reducing bolt to steering gear input shaft engagement. As a result, the joint could slip or separate from the steering gear input shaft.

icon2 How to Fix:

The dealer will drill the yoke and install a larger bolt to properly secure the universal joint, without charge to owner.

Vehicle description: trucks. System: steering; steering column coupling. Consequences of defect: if separation occurs, loss of steering control and avehicle accident could result.
