Recall Summary:
On certain vehicles, the audible signal may not sound when the emergency door release mechanism is not in the closed position and the ignition is in the "on" position. This does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 217, "bus window retention and release".
How to Fix:
Dealer will install a modified latch mechanism which will allow activation of the alarm, independent of the door position.

Vehicle description: school buses. System: structure; emergency door, release mechanism. Consequences of defect: in the absence of an audible warning signal, the drivercould operate the bus while the emergency door is not secure and passengerscould fall out or be ejected and injured.
