Recall Summary:
Bolted installation of the steering gear housing has a tendency to loosen in service. This is due to a backward installation of the lockwashers, which are bellville type, and a resultant incorrect torque on the bolts.
How to Fix:
All recalled vehicles will have bellville type lockwashers at steering gear housing attach points replaced with standard split-type lockwashers.

Vehicle description: trucks. System: steering system; steering gear mounting hardware. Consequences of defect: loosening of the steering gear housing may result inerratic steering and possibly an accident.
