In the event of a collision, vehicle may leak fuel when rolled to an inclination of less than 45 degrees. Although a vent valve is present, the valve closes only when the vehicle angle exceeds 45 degrees. This does not comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 301, "fuel system integrity. "

icon2 How to Fix:

Dealer will replace the vent hose with one of an improved design. The vent hose will be rerouted to a position above the maximum fuel level and will discharge into the fuel tank filler pipe.

Vehicle description: light and medium trucks. System: fuel; fuel tank vent hose. Consequences of defect: in the event of an accident which causes the truck toroll, spilled fuel may contribute to a fire and personal injury.
