If the owner has not been advised of the above, and the vehicle has been subjected to the above conditions, inadvertent airbag deployment can result and cause an injury to the occupant of the driver's seat.

Vehicle description: passenger cars. The owner's manuals for these vehicles do not contain warning information pertaining to the air bag restraint system, as follows: warning! if your car has been subjected to flood conditions (e. G. , soaked carpeting/standing water on the floor of the vehicle) or if your car has been flood damaged in any way, do not attempt to start the vehicle or put the key in the ignition before disconnecting the battery. This may cause air bag deployment which could result in serious personal injury. Have the car towed to an authorized Volvo dealer for repairs.

A letter will be sent to vehicle owners asking them to place this information in the supplemental restraint system (srs) section of the owner's manual.
