Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Due to a programming error, the powertrain control module (pcm) installed can, under certain driving conditions, trigger a shift in air-fuel ratio to an overlean condition.

icon2 How to Fix:

Dealers will reprogram the pcm with the correct engine control logic.

icon4 Recall Notes:

Owner notification is expected to begin during January 1998. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500. Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
