icon3 Recall Summary:

Vehicle description: heavy duty trucks. The cigarette lighter is located close to the floorboard where an object on the floor may inadvertently hold the cigarette lighter in. The lighter circuit breaker only protects the circuit on the first event.

icon2 How to Fix:

Dealers will replace the cigarette lighter element with one that has a peripheral ring and pushbutton that prevents inadvertent activation. The circuit protection will also be changed from a breaker to a fuse.

Owner notification began September 3, 1999. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.
