| Investigations Summary: | This investigation was opened on Oct. 18, 2006. It was closed on Feb. 9, 2007. Odi opened this pe after receiving three allegations of parked motorcycle upset when it rolled off the sidestand. Since opening we have:â¿interviewed the three owners filing a complaint with us;â¿inspected one complaint vehicle at the incident scene;â¿conducted subject vehicle parking stability testing in accordance with sae test procedure j1101 to assess its conformance with sae recommended practice, j1248, â¿performance requirements for parking stability of motorcycles;â¿ andâ¿reviewed suzukiâ¿s response to our information request. The subject vehicles conform to the sae j1248, sec. 3. 3 â¿minimum required roll off angleâ¿ of 4 degrees when parked on the sidestand. Given the small number of known failures and the subject vehicleâ¿s conformance with sae j1248, no defect trend is identified at this time and the pe is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that no safety-related defect exists and we reserve the right to take further action if warranted. |
