| Investigations Summary: | The office of defects investigation has received 12 complaints alleging incidents of engine stall while driving in model year (my) 2011-2012 Jeep patriot vehicles. Approximately 80 percent (10) of the incidents occurred at speeds of 65 miles per hour or more. All complaints reported that the vehicle could not be immediately restarted and two-thirds (8) reported that the vehicle could not be restarted at all or that it was towed to the dealership. The complaints show an apparent increasing trend, with all but three received within the past six months. One complaint alleged that the incident resulted in a crash and injury. A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and potential safety consequences associated with the alleged defect. |
